At the start of January I really started focusing in on my nutrition again. This fall I started a couch to 5K program, and ran my first 5K in December of last year. I did not lose any weight during this time, and in fact I gained quite a few pounds. I think I mentally allowed myself to eat more calories as I tried to train my body to learn how to run. I don't know why I self sabotage myself...

In January, I decided to focus on both exercise and calorie counting. For the first few weeks, I stayed at the same weight. Day after day nothing budged on that scale. Then I saw a spark exercise tip on a new treadmill workout. I decided to give it a try.
I needed to modify it quite a bit. Though I have been training to do a 5K, running is not quite my forte... yet.

This workout certainly burns the calories! Even if I do it for half the time, I am burning so many more calories than I was just running. The way everything changes every few minutes makes it seem achievable to me. It was just what I needed. I modified it by adjusting the speed... At the start I couldn't run the 7mph for a minute...so I ran it at 6. Still felt the burn.

Sure enough, after doing this workout for a few days the pounds started coming off again. After I lose a few more pounds, I really want to focus on running the distance. There are so many cool running events out there... I just need to push myself to do them. I will have to work on endurance next.
