Whaaaaaaaaaaaaa?

Yeah, I know, I know, I haven't written a blog in a while now. It's because this week I have been SO tired at work, I've been working while mostly asleep and trying to keep my eyes open. Today I feel a bit better, but it's only 9 am :-P

So this is the frustration part of my blog:
I hopped on the scale today, and it says I gained 5 lbs....5?!?!? My dad tells me he cleaned off the feet of the scale, and that actually had thrown it off a couple of pounds. Whaaaaaaaa? So now I am nowhere close to being out of the 320s, and I'm really practically convinced it is muscle. See more on this later

Number 2, I measured myself yesterday, and I measure exactly the same as I did in October. And my hips measured even bigger. Whaaaaaaaa? I do not understand what is going on at ALL.

Here is the good part!

My pants are getting that baggy part back in the lower stomach area! I'm super excited! I know my body is shifting around, at least the lower part, because it seems to be stronger and trimmer. (Which I why I don't understand ANY of the above things that are happening.) I'm just going to assume that everything is shifting before another drop. Don't worry, I won't give up! :-D

I have been doing 2-a-day workouts for over 3 weeks now!!!! Today is the first day I will miss it because I'm going to be busy all night (more on that in a bit!) But I may do the 3 mile both tomorrow and Saturday. Or maybe I'll do a dance party, I miss doing those! :-P But I'll get those calories burned in somehow, because I don't want to use tonight as an excuse not to get them all in.

I got my first 1,000 minute trophy ever!!!! I remember seeing EMMAEKAY getting them on a regular basis and saying to her 'that is SO much! how do you do it?!' I can't believe I'm there myself now! :-D I really love it that I get so much in and I don't feel like it takes up a whole bunch of time every day. :-)

Ok, now on to other stuff!

Last weekend was a disaster food wise. But I am over it and have moved on, so it's all good again :-)

I'm super excited to get off of work tonight!!! If you have ever seen Mystery Science Theater 3000, you will be excited too! :-P AMC Theaters are doing a special thing tonight where Mike and two other guys from MST3K will be re-riffing Manos: The Hands of Fate!!! I'm totally going tonight!! My dad called me a nerd for it, but I am a nerd! Haha So right after work, I'm going with Barbara (my walking buddy) to the mall that the theater is in, and we will walk around for a bit before having dinner and then going to the movie. It won't be over until 9:30, so I'm spending the night at her place. I haven't spent the night anywhere in AGES, so I'm pretty excited :-) But that's why I won't get my WATP done tonight. We will walk around the mall though, so that will be something, even though I won't put it in my tracker. We'll call it 'bonus' minutes :-P

My dad is kinda doing ok...he was in the hospital before Christmas (in case you missed it) with an infection in his blood. He had to get a line in his arm to give himself antibiotics, and once the blood cleared, they took it out. Well he wasn't feeling ANY better and was still in a massive amount of pain. He went and saw two doctors, one who practically called him an addict and just wanted the pain meds for his addiction. When he saw his regular doc again, they sent him for an MRI and they finally realized that the infection is still there, but in his sternum (like the actual bone!). Needless to say, we are completely pissed at those other docs who tried to brush him off like he wasn't in pain. He's kind of upset that he had to get the line put back in, and he's going to be on the antibiotics again for another 6 weeks, but it's better than him having to go into surgery to get the infection scraped out (which is still possible if this doesn't work :/).

He doesn't know it, but this is part of the reason I've been going for so long. We still don't know why he got the infection in the first place, but I figure the healthier I am, the less chance I have of getting an infection of any kind. So every day I keep going, because I can't afford not to!

I've been doing pretty well this week overall, I've just been TIRED. Not sure if it has anything to do with my workouts, but I don't think it does. I think I just didn't sleep enough over the weekend. I will try to make it better this weekend!

I think that's about it for what is going on with me...I suppose I should get some work done haha! Have a good Thursday night everyone, I know I will!!!! :-D emoticon

    Try weighing yourself on another scale, just to be sure.

So glad your Dad is improving, I hope he is all better soon!

Keep working your plan, and you will see more results.

I feel your pain though, I weighed myself, but It's not my official weigh in day yet, and I was up 2 lbs, which is so weird because I underate this weekend (not a good thing). I am back to working my planning, going to drink tons of water and we'll see if on Thursday at work, on my regular weigh in day, if those 2 lbs are gone. Wish me luck!

    Congrats on the 1000 minutes that's awesome and two a days wow! You are a rock star! you will see the scale change eventually but I'd much rather see the clothes fit differently than a number on a scale, I lose weight but don't feel or see any difference for far longer than I wish lol.

I will be paying for your father.

    I am sorry to hear about the scale stuff, it's super annoying. But I love that you are more focused on the fact that you are trimmer, you are getting smaller, your body is shifting and more importantly you must be feeling so much stronger with all the exercise and walking. I am doing my best to not be so focused on the scale and be more aware of how I am feeling and stuff but sometimes it's hard. HUGE congrats on your 1000 minute trophy, you are a rockstar! emoticon emoticon

I'm glad your dad got that all sorted out so he could get the medication. I had the same issue after having major surgery and I had tried two kinds of pain meds, and it turned out the first worked better so I stopped taking the second. They wouldn't give me more thinking I was either an addict or selling them but I brought in the old ones to show I still had them and got it sorted out. Actually my mom did it cuz I couldn't go in cuz I was in a lot of pain. Idiots. It is so sad that they don't trust anyone anymore and it makes you want to b*tch slap them! *SIGHS* But glad it's sorted now!

Btw, I find myself being unusually sleepy all through winter, so maybe that's what's got you, too?

    Sounds like you have a fantastic attitude, which is the most important tool for weight loss.

It does sound like you are overtraining though...I am usually up 2-3lbs after a series of two-a-days, and then it drops after I take a rest day (or two). As long as "rest" doesn't equal eat-whatever-you-want.

  Michelle - how often do you weigh in? If you've been having a good week it's highly unlikely that you gained 5 lbs. Even still, it's just a number and your clothes are a better indicator of your progress. As for the measurements - I was measuring myself yesterday and in my opinion, it's hard! I try to make note of where I'm measuring but I think some areas are tough so I wonder if I am even measuring the same place every time!!

I hope this latest treatment works for your dad. After my dad had his heart attack last summer he said that if he could inspire just one person to get healthier, then something good will have come from it. I bet your dad is really proud of what you're doing.

    I told you! I knew you would make it to 1000+ minutes a month as soon as you found a workout you both liked and could do at home. WATP is fantastic! Super proud of you.

As long as you're eating within your ranges, you'll see a loss eventually. Your body is definitely re-configuring with all the new added activity! But remember that you can't out-exercise a bad diet.

You have the right idea. Obesity increases our risk of every possible medical issue: infections, tumors, cancers, viruses all thrive in unhealthy people. I'm glad you're taking this the right way! Meaning, a sign to get and stay healthy. :)

You are doing AWESOME!

    I'm sorry to hear that your dad is having trouble with that infection. I hope he feels better soon.

What an awesome exercise streak! It does sound like your body is just readjusting to the increase in exercise, and I'm sure you'll see a drop soon! Just keep at it. I'm struggling with fatigue right now too. It might be due to the increase in exercise, but that should be temporary and eventually it should give you an energy boost! Hard to believe, I know, but it's true!

If you are building muscle under the fat in certain areas, you probably will show an increase in inches and weight, but definitely don't stress about it because you'll see a drop eventually. You know you are doing what you need to do to be healthy, so be as stubborn as the scale when it comes to staying on course. You'll win :)

Have a great time tonight! I'm a big MST3K myself and I loved watching it when I was a kid.

    Congrats on reaching the 1000 fitness minutes this month! That's a great accomplishment. Keep going strong. Our bodies don't always make sense to us, but you can tell it is getting healthier whether it is showing it on the scales and measurements or not. I hope your dad finally heals, but it's great that you have that to motivate you. Keep going!
