My first ever blog entry. How about that...

It's clear that my weight loss efforts won't get far without the support and encouragement of others; time to take advantage of my blog! I get insight from reading the blogs of others, so I'll try my best to help others myself. Today's challenge: friends are taking me out to a fancy Italian restaurant tonight, and I need to find the balance between ordering six courses of various bottled waters, and going crazy with the menu. Just writing about it here helps a lot!

    Good Luck! I try to always get a salad with the dressing on the side to east first, sometimes I manage to skip the bruschetta or the bread (not always, hey you win some, you lose some, hehe). I second the tomato based sauce or olive oil/garlic sauce. I like Glitterfairy's suggestion of getting half of it boxed up before you eat. But always remember, if you do decide to indulge don't beat yourself up about, just make sure to get right back on your healthy plan the next day.

    HOpe you managed to eat out, enjoy yourself, but not go overboard on the calories. It can be a challenge, as one doesn't always know what is lower calorie or not, as it depends on how things are cooked, etc.

  Sometimes, life throws us a curveball, like going out to eat. Here's what you do. Order something, and get a to-go box before you start eating. Depending how big the portion is, set aside one resonable portion on your plate, and put the rest in the to-go box, which you could have for lunch tomorrow, or maybe even lunch and dinner. And absolutely-stick with water!!!
Eating in restaurants does not have to hinder you from making good choices! :)

    Eating out can be so hard. Just try and portion control it. Enjoy your meal and dont let it throw you for a loop. Eating out will happen just dont make it an everyday occurance and you will do fine.

    good luck! you can do this. I always go for pasta with tomato based and not creamy sauces as a guideline. and have soup as a starter and you will eat less :-)
