I had no idea that my local Lowe's Foods grocery store was having SUPER doubles starting yesterday. My routine on Wednesdays is to look at the online sales flyers since I don't get flyers from them in the mail (well I get a small/partial one usually on Friday) and that's where I found out about it.
I don't go to online sites that I used to go to before that gave you a heads up since no one really posts about the stores in my area too much, and since Harris Teeter left the area, I don't have a reason to get on there.
I had to get my hair done yesterday and that alone took 3 hours so I didn't have much time to prepare since most of my time was spent schooling before my appt. I decided to get the highlights in my hair dyed over with what is supposed to be my natural hair color as my hair is starting to look a little "processed". I think the color (that the stylist claims Is my natural hair color) is a little too dark, so I hope that it eventually tones down a little, LOL.
I left there to go to Lowe's Foods and I did pretty good considering I didn't have much preparation time. Despite that lack of prep, I got $70 worth of groceries for only $17!!!
They had a new thing this super doubles that only involved one cent, but boy does that one cent make a difference!
They used to double on super double events up to a $1.99 coupon, but this time they doubled up to $2 coupons. In the past, you might occasionally find some $1.50 coupons that you could double and that would give you $3 off. Now that they upped it to $2 coupons (which you can also find lots of), it took $4 off! Those $1 differences add up quickly!
It's a good thing I saved that much money because my husband put in the parts he ordered online for our ailing dishwasher and they didn't fix the problem. Can I tell you how much we use our dishwasher since we normally (unless out at other activities) eat 3 meals a day, every day, at home??????
I suppose I will be shopping for dishwashers today as he doesn't want to put any more money into it and still not fix the problem. That bill on top of others that are coming in are bummers for sure, but that's why I work so hard on saving money on our grocery bill.
My husband took my daughter to a free event at our local library (book club) that I wasn't able to take her to due to my hair appt. and she had a great time. She even signed up to volunteer there this summer and was told that they will do an interview process, which I think is wonderful since it prepares them for adult life in the near future!
