Push That Tush -- Be Creative

I face the struggle to get myself motivated to exercise ... every day.
Years ago, when I was in my most successful weight loss mode
EXERCISE was the key that really got things going.
I was ultra strict with the food
(50 SHADES OF STEAMED GREEN VEGETABLES) and
I walked 2 miles before work
I walked 2 miles at lunch
I did aerobics after work.
the pounds just melted and people would caution me that
I was losing too fast...frankly, they didn't see everything I did to get there.

NOW, I eat a healthy balanced diet that has become my lifestyle,
But I continue to struggle with EXERCISE.

I have to PUSH myself to do 30 minutes, 20 minutes...5 minutes.
But it's all about DOING....
DO something
DO anything that gets me up and moving
DO something ... even sitting in a chair.
I can talk myself out of things ....OR I can stop talking and start DOING.



Yesterday, I tried taking a few 5 minute breaks during the day
to do some strength training/cardio intervals.
The weather is too cold outside. Time for getting cardio inside.
I have 2 Rubbermaid step stools that stand 9 inches off the floor ($10 each)
And I have my pair of 5 lb. dumbbells ($7 each).
So I would do my arm exercises as I went up and down the step stools,
and I kept changing my movements.
By the end of 5 minutes my heart was pumping and I was tired.
Equipment...Inexpensive ,
Movement ....spontaneous ,
Result....PRICELESS.

A little ingenuity goes a long way.
Today I'll try something different.
TOTAL BODY SCULPTING DVD .... here I come

  I'm with you - nothing I can do makes me like/enjoy/want to exercise. I still hate it. I wish there were something I didn't hate. All I can manage is walking, and generally at a slow pace. But I figure it's better than nothing...maybe not much better, but a tiny bit better. I love the phrase 'push that tush' but still don't seem to be able to make myself do it.

    I've done the step workouts on step stools and stairways. I believe I would not have lost 36 lbs or kept it off without exercise every day. Somedays I don't feel like doing it , and once in a while I don't, but I know weight loss is easier and I look and feel better when I do.

Good for YOU. It doesn't matter what we do........just that we do SOMETHING!!!!! The more I do today, the easier it will be to do that much tomorrow......plus a bit more.

    emoticon I guess i'm lucky because I found an exercise that I absolutely LOVE so it's really not a chore to go.
I don't even see it as a calorie burning thing I need to do.
Zumba is so emoticon that if the class is cancelled, I am really,really sad.

    It is hard to stay motivated for exercise in the winter. NJ is freezing. We had icy sidewalks and I barely made it into the gym.

Good for you improvising with a home gym and exercise. You can do it. emoticon

just something that helps me - It is part of my routine to exercise. When I worked, I always went directly to the gym. Now that we are retired, we go at 9 a.m. everyday. If something comes up and I can't go at 9 (say I have to take my mother out of town to an appointment) I always tell myself I will go later in the day - never happens! So having a regular schedule works for me!
