It's that time again! I'm bordering between feeling that things are slowing down, and yet realising that time is really flying by. Blame it on the hormones!
How far along?
We're 25 weeks along! The little guy is really growing now, apparently he should be around 800 grams this week. He's putting on a lot of baby fat so that he can regulate his body temperature when he is finally born. If we would peek inside, we'd see his hair colour and texture. I've read a lot of studies linking heartburn to the amount of baby hair, and shucks, this guy is going to have lots of it by the looks of this week!
I'm still at 6- 8 pounds gained. I fluctuated quite a bit during the week, and this morning weighed in at just 6 pounds up from my prepreg weight. But most days I'm weighing a bit heavier at 8 pounds. Either way, if I can just maintain this for a few more weeks, I'll be on the low side of my gain chart and I will be happy!
(I know it sounds like I'm obsessed because I'm weighing everyday. I'm not dieting, nor pigging out, but I like to know where I stand. It makes me feel less anxious about my health while Baby Boops grows and even if that number was 30 pounds I'd still need to keep a strict eye on the number and the steps I've taken to get there (like too much ice cream?).)
Sure. Let's pretend that happened this week. *yawn*
Best moment this week?
Number 1: We chose a name (shh!). We've chosen to keep our options open, and not commit to the public what it is until the very end. But we were chatting about it in the car and were all, wait, did we just decide on a name?! Goes to show, choosing to be laid back about certain things is the best, less stressful way to accomplish tasks. Now if only I can put that zen on the rest of my life!
Number 2: I've been watching Baby Boops roll across my belly. I didn't think it would be possible with all my flubber, but sure enough, I can totally see it now!
Anything making you queasy or sick?
Just normal life stress. I'm learning that actually, my life is pretty stressful, and I need to take more time to get things done so that I can relax a bit. Too Type A for my own good sometimes!
Also, oddly the sensations of the little guy rolling makes me nauseous. Weird right? Thankfully I have a gut of steel and don't throw up, but I get all clammy and pukey feeling. I'm a great mom. ha!
On the opposite of this: I'm definately craving ice cream. Real milky ice cream. Gone are the gummies cravings, and now I'm in 100% ice cream mode. Geez, I'd sell my kidney for a tub of Ben and Jerry's. But instead, I'll stick with the unimaginative south african flavours...like vanilla.
Good week! My besties had their baby boy this week (one week ago exactly!) and he is just too precious. Being able to love on a baby has made this all extra real and exciting. This morning another mate of mine had a little girl, and I'm looking forward to May very much! It's nearly my turn!
Looking forward to...?
May of course. But also this week, I'll have my first appointment with my midwife. I'm both nervous and excited about it. Also on this week's to do list is to pester hubby to start painting the house. Have I mentioned that we want to move just around when the baby is born? I know madness. But the market is on the downhill for selling, and we do not want to stay in that house for even another year so it's sort of now or never. We've got the full interiour that needs painting and the full exterior. Poor guy. I've allocated part of our grocery budget to hire another pair of hands to help, but it's still a big job. And a job I won't be partaking in!
On Saturday, my mom and I are going baby shopping. We're picking up the carseat (actually hubby will be doing that while I'm looking at more fun stuff), and all the material for the bedding/curtains etc. So exciting. The artwork for the nursery is almost finished and once the room is painted, I can start assembling everything. Is it too early to be nearly done with the nursery? Ha! Thankfully, it's super simple so it sounds like I'm overdoing it, but it's a teeny room, and I'm not doing too much in it that can't be easily moved to our new house when that comes around.
Hope you all are having a super week!
