So I went to the gym yesterday, even though my workout buddy couldn't make it. I parked, paid, walked in the door, and... realized I forgot my gym shoes. Crap. I was wearing boots, definitely can't work out in those. I checked the group workout schedule and didn't see pilates or yoga (which I know I can do without shoes.) So I sighed and walked back to the parking lot, thinking I would try to do a video at home or something, knowing I unfortunately would be more likely to take a nap or watch TV. As I came out to the parking lot, I saw a lady at the parking kiosk. I ran up to her to ask if she had already paid, thinking I would give her my parking ticket so it didn't go to waste (as it was good for 2 hours and I'd been there 2 minutes...)
She says, I'm a member and have a parking pass, I don't pay per day. So I said ok nevermind, was going to let you use mine since I forgot shoes. She says oh, I hate when that happens and you have to go home... you know, I'm heading to an aqua fitness class in 15 minutes, you don't need shoes for that. Do you happen to have a swimsuit in your gym bag? I thought about it, and as a matter of fact I did! I threw it in there "just in case" I ever felt like a hot tub day or something. So I figured, what the heck, it's better than not working out today!
I got to the class a little early, and the instructor was a fit, adorable lady probably in late 30s. She was very nice and we chatted a bit, she explained the "toys" we would be using in class. So for the next 60 wet minutes, I and a few others jumped, ran, floated, and played in the water. It went by so fast I was having so much fun! It is very different from a cardio workout, you don't get the shortness of breath or intense burn. But today I can definitely feel it, especially in my thighs. I'm glad that worked out, and I will definitely keep a suit in my bag "just in case" from now on! Forgetting shoes is no longer an excuse.
