The Uncle I Wanted to Avoid Showed Up Today!

Uncle, first name Arthur, last name Itis, that's right Arthritis, has finally found out where I live and has decided to take up residence in my right knee. And me, always being the gracious hostess, greeted him with a shot of cortisone! emoticon The doctor politely told me that I might want to hang up my running shoes or deal with the consequences of the continuos stress on my knee, that already has a number of bone spurs surrounding it. The good news, according to my friend Angie is, NOW I CAN DO SPINNING! Did I ever mention that I hate spinning? But I'm going with the positives here: 1. nothing is torn 2. it could be much worse 3. I can still workout unlike some people that are limited in their mobility. Sooooo, I ain't complaining! After 5-7 days, I will be able to get back into a normal whole body workout routine..the elliptical, spinning, swimming, walking, modified TurboKick, kickboxing...etc..etc...
Now the hard part: Really Really eating the right things for the next 5-7 days (which means I probably shouldn't be munching on these M&M peanuts as I type this). I also asked the doctor if I needed to stay home from work these next 5-7 days. His response, "uhmmmm NO." You can't blame me for trying. emoticon

    emoticon about your knee and you can't run. But emoticon it sounds like you can do lots of other exercises emoticon emoticon

og_id=5220270#comments... but because I have been diagnosed with truncal LE (lymphedema) on the breast cancer side, upper right side, under my arm and back... I can no longer do push-ups, pull-ups, tricep dips... Also because of a fall in November, I hurt my left arm and can't do rear or front delt work (strength training)... At first I was sort of depressed, but then I realized that there is so much more than I can do, than what I can't do! emoticon

I can still box/kickbox, dance, spin, jump rope, hoop, and more... and strength train with the exception of just a few exercises...

... and spinning can be fun! emoticon I use dvd workout videos at home... you control how tough you want the workout to be.

    For some reason Uncle Arthur likes my knees as well, this cold weather is not a good deal. Hope the shot helps

here's hoping that pain goes away QUICKLY so you can get back to your fabulous self. (and not have to Spin. that's a special kind of torture...)

    love your sense of humour love.i donīt want my uncle arther to visit either lol but sometimes we have no say in what our rellies do.a good sense of humour can help us through lots of things and make us stronger.hope the injection helps.good luck on the food side that is my problem too,exercise i have down pat but the food..thatīs another matter.best advice i can give on that is tracking,track every blt,bite,lick and taste.m emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
