Inspiring our children

Wednesday, January 23, 2013

I have to share a proud Momma moment. Last night while fixing dinner, I made a salad to eat before dinner. Fiber in before dinner means less dinner in. Both of my kids piped in that they wanted a salad before dinner too. emoticon Then the husband piped in "where's mine?" lol

So after dinner, my son is washing dishes and i was assembling my salad for lunch today and my daughter decides she is going to pack her lunch for tomorrow too (she is 10, in 4th grade). I really didn't pay attention to what she packed so later on after she went to bed I looked to see what she got. She packed a container of pineapple, a few handfuls of organic sunflowers, a peanut butter and peach jelly sandwich on WHEAT BREAD!!!, and some peanut butter on cheese crackers. She didn't go for the kool aid, she put some of my tea in her thermos. I had to smile for her making her own good choices!

Yay! It's great to watch as our kids make good choices. I am so proud proud when my six year old goes for a hard boiled egg instead of asking for a sugary treat in the middle of the afternoon.
