My avatar soon, instead of the abominable snow person
I'm at peace with what I've gotten done and what else I'll be doing today and in the morning. The cleaning crew was here yesterday, and last night I got a last food delivery to make sure there'd be enough cat and other supplies (snacks) for our friend who's house sitting the month we're away. I put flea meds on the cats and our friend will be here in a couple hours to look over the set-up and see if he has any questions or wants anything re-arranged; we're supposed to get snow on Friday so I'll double-up on what I put out for the cats tomorrow, so he won't have to show up until Saturday or Sunday if necessary. We did give a key/instructions to a neighbor, too, so our friend and he can talk if there's a problem for a longer period of time.
I did all my laundry this morning, after my shower so I'm all ready to go, just have to finish packing; I'm taking two suitcases, one for day-to-day when we're in our own place and another to take overseas for the week in the Caribbean. It has better/dressier slacks and tops and books/electrical stuff I'll need there but not in Florida. When I get to Florida I might buy additional "good" stuff (tops, I mostly only have t-shirts) or a different/better pair of sandals (but I feel guilty there, I spent too much on these new ones and I don't like them and they're not comfortable enough to spend an entire day in); my go-to sandals have a non-repairable piece of elastic that's getting ready to let go and wreck one of them, maybe an additional pair of jeans as I only have this one pair but one of my "goals" for this summer is to be wearing jeans less and "good"/"adult" :-) slacks more. I think in my 60's I should let go of just living in jeans and t-shirts.
I want to clean out the car and organize it for the trip. I've decided to throw out all the paper maps :-) we're taking I-95 all the way to where we're going, and I have GPS on my phone and a computer that I can use in the car too. I can certainly use the space it takes to have a zillion out-of-date maps except for the small, plastic, local one for where we'll be in Florida that I like.
I'm more comfortable with my phone but not comfortable with my new camera so I have the manual that came with it and will make that a travelling chore, to practice taking pictures, etc. It's an android camera and I can send pictures directly to people but haven't set that up yet, only setting up a way to get it to my computer easily and then I would, presumably, email from my computer as it's easier. But the greatest challenge is I've never taken the time to learn photography so have no clue about using this more advanced camera with zoom, etc. I gave up on my old digital camera, it went through batteries too quickly, was also too advanced for me but "dumb" and I was just using my phone camera but that has limitations, is not a quality camera. This new Coolpix camera I got for Christmas though, with an Android operating system like my phone and computer, will solve both those problems, I hope.
I'll try to get a picture or three posted here in my blog at least once a week during my vacation.
