Any Time Now...

Wednesday, January 23, 2013

So far this year isn’t going my way. So any time now I’d just like a break. The furnace seems to be working, but hasn’t been able to keep up with this cold snap we’re having. The bathroom, well nothing new with the bathroom has happened. It’s my car this time.

I have been leaking coolant. Now I know that my heat has been wonky. I added coolant and it worked fine. Until a week later I had to add more coolant. And now a week later my coolant light came on again, and my heat is slowly dying a painful death. So tonight I am going to get it checked.

Now my car has been a good car for a long time. It’s time to die, but we can’t afford it to die right now. Rachael’s car still has until 2015 before it’s paid off. *sigh* I need a better job. Rachael needs a better job as well. *sigh*.

Right now there is a car dealership that is running a lease on the Chevy Cruze for $87 a month. That’d be great if I got that rate. I just hope there’s no huge down payment for it. I think we’d be able to do that, but first we’re going to see if I can just get this leak problem fixed.

On top of everything else, I am stumped. I weigh every day just to see if I am on track. I’m not normally stressed about these numbers, except for the past three days I jumped up 6 pounds. I don’t know why. I know I haven’t gained 6 pounds in the last three days.

I drink 9 cups of water a day. I mostly stay in my calorie, carb, protein and fat ranges. Sometimes I am out of it, but I try to stay in it. The only change in the last week or so is that I started working out on a regular basis. I just don’t understand. Why would a person go up 6 pounds in less than a week?

I know weight loss is not just measured on the scale and that it’s how I feel and how things fit. And I do feel better. My clothes fit better. But I’d like to see the numbers reflect that. I just want to know what my body is doing.

Could it really be that I gained 6 pounds of muscle? I’ve been working out since Friday the 18th. I’ve gone four times to the gym, the last three I have started to lift weights to help tone. I do cardio for at least half of my workout time. My fat should be burning off, yes? Any thoughts on the subject would be appreciated.

Sometimes when you start working out regularly your body can retain extra water. Just keep at it. =)

Thank you for taking time to come by and encourage me on my blog when you have so much going on.

Sometimes it just feels like the world is against you. Hope things start to get better for you soon.

On the car, it could just be a hose or something very simple. Hopefully, it is!

On the hardware side of things, what kind of scale are you using? Did you change scales or time of day you're weighing? If it's analog, does it have a calibrator wheel that got knocked so it's not starting at 0? If digital, battery check?

On the personal side, water retention? Time of month? Hormones? Stress? There are a lot of factors in what the scale shows that are unrelated to our "real" body weight.

Does your gym offer weigh-in services where they measure your body fat and all that? That's a great way to keep track of whether or not you're gaining muscle.

Sorry about the car and the bathroom and the other annoying stuff. That certainly doesn't help emoticon

I've been there. Recently in fact. Have you readjusted your goal lately with your new weight so that the calorie range is correct now? Are you possibly retaining water? Did you take your workouts into account on the fitness tracker? You have to track food and fitness, as the calorie burn and intake sync with each other to make up what you need to eat to lose. Too little food with too much workout drops your metabolism somehow, I learned. I also learned that protein drinks help you lose weight. I added them to my plan and they really help a LOT.

As for everything going wrong, I've been there too. I live on the edge of it all the time. You have my prayers.
