Back at it again!

Tuesday, January 22, 2013

I'm not going to promise that I will be back to regular blogging, because I've done that in the past and it obviously hasn't worked! I will however try my best to blog when I can.

So I'm back at it again.. A whole lot of sitting around and terrible food choices has got be right back to where I started. I was surprised to see 182 on the scale and yet not surprised at the same time. Ever since the photography job that I was doing that had me working crazy hours, it's been a total downslide. I was eating out way too much and not exercising to make up for it. Follow that with more unemployment, then the holidays, then a trip to Alberta to meet my new nephew. Needless to say, I've been very lazy and it's time to stop!

I'm getting back on the wagon slowly. Of course, I got sick last week so that's been holding me back. x_x Got back down to the gym today though and managed a small triumph of running for eight minutes without stopping. I know a bunch of you are probably scoffing at that thinking that's nothing, but I've alwaysss been horrible at running, so it's an accomplishment for me!

So here's to making this my year. I know it's been said before, but I intend to not let it be said again. I'm hoping to get a ring some time this year, so if all goes well I'll be getting married next year. After that, I want to have babies. I just really want to be able to say that I'm proud of myself and I truly respect my body.

I have a couple goals that I'd like to set this year.

1. Get down to at least 150. That's entirely doable.
2. Continue to push myself to the point where I actually enjoy running and don't feel like dying when I am.
3. Lose at least 20 pounds by June 22, the day that we're going back to Alberta, followed by my cousin's wedding the week after.
4. Go bike riding at least once a week once the weather warms up a bit.
5. Try one new recipe a month. (Already made some chicken noodle soup for my cold. :))
6. Continue to strength train so as I lose weight, I'll have muscle definition.

I'm sure I'll think of more, but that's just what I have now. I'm excited to see the weight start coming off again! This time, I want to lose enough to really see a drastic change in my body. Even when I was at 160, my body wasn't anywhere close to where I'd like it to be.

I hope everyone else's year is going great so far! I wish you all good luck in your journeys!

150 days til Alberta! Let's do this! :D

I'll leave you guys with a photo of me holding my new nephew Cayden, the cutest little guy ever! :) (Forgive the big finger at the top of the photo, this is my dad attempting to take a photo with a phone lol)

I just got laid off and am facing unemployment myself. I am trying to stay postive and say that it makes it easier to focus on the weight loss. Glad to see you are back at it. I don't have time to blog all the time either... just have to do what we need to in order to achieve our goals. Best of luck to you!

You got this! I totally understand where you are coming from! I was doing so great last year and lost at least 30 pounds till out of no where something negative happened in my life and when I had the chance to continue, I lost my drive and gained it all back and then some. I wish you the best! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

    Thanks everyone!

Chris, that's what other people have said too, I guess I just notice it so much 'cause I know what it is lol. Thanks, I'm proud of myself! :) Being sick sucks, doesn't it? Glad you're feeling better now~ Let's get this done!

Cassandra, I'm gonna try my best with blogging, I think it's all a matter of making it part of my routine. x_x I just hate job changes! Really hoping that I'll be able to get into something steady soon. :)

Mags, thanks!

Ashikime (don't think I've ever learned your real name, sorry!), thank youuu! It's definitely one of my biggest motivations~ I don't want my weight to ever be a reason for pregnancy issues. :)

Monica, strength training has been a large part of my training routine ever since I started and I always use the heaviest dumbbells I can while still maintaining 8-12 reps per set, generally 15-25 pounds, aside from when I'm working certain smaller muscles. The reason I didn't see the changes I want is 'cause I still needed to lose a good twenty pounds.

    Welcome back!

Seems like a lot of my SparkFriends are back to near their starting weights... but at least that means I have lots of company on my way!

If you want to see big changes in your body, I'd recommend putting a larger emphasis on strength training. Particularly when you said you were down to 160 but your body didn't look the way you wanted it to - that makes me think it might be the key you were missing. I'm talking HEAVY strength training... big girl weights. P90X was what made the biggest difference to me (scale changed a little, body changed a lot) and something of that genre might be good for you too (assuming you're grabbing heavy enough dumbbells). Think about it!

Glad you're blogging again even if it is only once in a while. Job changes can make such a big difference... That's what happened to me. It's great you have a little plan written up. You can lose this weight. And that is a pretty cute baby.

What a wonderful photo of both of you! ......The finger looked like a shadow, to me. Still a great pic.

I am so proud of you, for running 8 minutes! That is great! Don't overdo, while you are sick, though.

I was sick, in the early part of January and it was frustrating, as I wanted to get moving more. Better now and making progress.

I, too want to make a "drastic" change, in my body. This here and there, back and forth. has got to stop.
