This morning was hectic!
I was busily fixing breakfast and then getting myself ready to get out of the house and have some "ME" time with my hairdresser and my pedicurist. Then there is a bit of shopping at Costco afterwards. It makes for a very long day, but so worth it!
As I was getting ready I could see those little brown eyes glaring at me from a distance as Buddy laid inconspicuously in the hallway so I would have to step over him to get out of the house!! I glanced his way and said, "Don't worry Buddy... I'll be back early enough to take you for our walk! I promise!"
Scurrying out of the house with a quick kiss good bye to DH and a hug around Buddy's sweet neck, I headed off for my day. It was beautiful today. It would have been a great day for a long walk, but not possible.
I got my day finished and hurried home in the midst of evening traffic. By the time I got all the groceries unpacked from the car (with DH help) it was getting dark. There Buddy was with those piercing brown eyes reminding me of my promise. I said to DH, "I promised Buddy a walk tonight. Do I still have time?" He said, "Go! This will wait!" He was right.
I put on my pedometer, and discovering that the battery died, and then grabbed the leash and a flashlight. Buddy was waiting at the door without an invitation. Another example of his mind reading abilities!!
We headed down the steps and up to the top of the driveway. I had to take shorter route down the street to the end of the culdesac and back since night's blackness was falling fast.
It was a short adventure but nevertheless it felt so great getting it done! As I was approaching the driveway on our return I thought about DH saying that if I did this short walk just 10 times week I would get 5 miles in!! So far this week I'm at 3 miles just with this short little walk!
What do you know? Amazing!! Baby Steps!
