So I took the challenge of doing 10 minutes of exercise each day. Since I committed to this, I have been inventive how to fill those 10 minutes with movement..... here are a few I have done.....
- 11 minute Spark People Cardio Chair Workout (super fun and good for my busted knee)
- side stepping while doing arm movements with my 1/2 pound Zumba sticks (low impact and doing the arm moves really got my heart rate up, plus got all my upper body muscles engaged!!)
- Doing 100 moves (whatever I fancy, walking in place with kicks to the side and front, modified jumping jacks etc. possibilities are limitless)
- Sun Salutations/stepping in place/dance moves/belly dancing moves (to loosen up my stiffened back muscles and get my abs involved)
I feel fantastic, and accomplished and I am very surprised that 10 minutes at a stretch can make me feel so good. I can feel my muscles getting stronger, my body is getting more limber, and not as stiff. It is much easier to bend down and touch the floor without making weird and embarrassing noises.
So if there are any doubters out there.... if you can only commit to 2, or 4 or 5 minutes at a stretch, do it!! Heck, do 1 minute! Anything you do is more than you did before, and it will make you feel so good. I promise. And no one will laugh if you start out small. Everyone will be proud and celebrate with you. Really. Group hug!
