Day 22 - The Plan day 4, goat cheese and chocolate

Tuesday, January 22, 2013

Today had 2 items on the menu that would break my challenge. After conferring with Mel, the 72% was allowed, even if borderline. Hey, it's Belgium chocolate, quality stuff :) It is a huge brick but with the difficulty of finding some things here, I'll take what I can get. I'm sure DH will help me eat it over the next couple of months.

The other item was the goat cheese on my lunch salad.

So today all challenges met except for the "no dairy"

Breakfast - flax seed granola with blueberries and a splash of coconut milk

Lunch - green salad with 1 oz goat cheese (chevre) and pumpkin seeds drizzled with citrus olive oil, leftover mixed veggies (from last night)

The goat cheese really made this dish, Creamy and soft - yum. After a few weeks it was nice to have some kind of cheese again.

Snack - bowl of carrot soup

Dinner - chicken with mango salsa, green salad with carrots and 1/4 avocado and steamed broccoli with citrus olive oil.

Mango salsa
1 mango
1 small cucumber
lime juice
2 slices red onion
cilantro
1 jalepeno (more or less depending how spicy you like it)
Chop ingredients, mix with lime juice and let sit for a few hours before serving.

So far I like all the meals on the plan and I love the results. After 3 days I am down 1.3 pounds (only 0.1 this morning but I'll take down!)

Love the chocolate block, I would be careful with it, lose weight and still enjoy some pleasures. Baxter makes a great mango chutney which I have trouble stopping at.

Oh my - do you really think that slab of 72% is going to last months?? Not in my hands - and that's why I have to get rid of it fast - preferably giving it away. If you can, then I admire your restraint :)

emoticon for sharing. Was the mango salsa in our cookbook or did you make that yourself? It looks really delish...yum!

I am not a chocolate person but have found out why. I had been eating milk chocolate all the while; dark chocolate taste so much better and better for you. I have some now and can't wait till I can test it...

That looks so delicious and all fresh ingredients and whole foods, that is awesome! ( well except for the chocolate! ) But that is one HUGE block! Wow!

I have had a chocolate bar in my kitchen for a month now and have not touched it, when I am off sugar, after the first initial days, I just don't crave it anymore in big quantities. So a big block like that over Christmas when I was "off the wagon" would have been half eaten by now, so the challenge has helped me get back my control over sugar. You have been an inspiration to me through this! Well done! emoticon
