Wow! Has it really been 4 days since I last checked in at all? I haven’t even spoken to any teams/mates since Thursday; I think… maybe a quick post on one team on Friday? I can’t remember. I need to go check in today. Will check in as I can today.
Friday – Work kept me way too busy to talk on Sparks. I spent over an hour and a half on the phone with a customer, 45 minutes including the head of AR, to set us up as a vendor on their new system. Yeah… that was fun, not! By the time I got home I just wanted to lay down and whimper between the exhaustion and headache. Instead I cleaned my house for 15 minutes and finished walking/exercising for the day, as I hadn’t gotten up early enough to do more than a 1 (12-minute) mile with Leslie Sansone. I DID it though. I also added in some quick strength training moves for another 5 minutes.
Oh yeah, I also called Waste Management and scheduled a “large item” pickup for Monday (yesterday) consisting of 1 couch (shredded top from Mahou Neko running across it constantly), 1 treamill that won’t stop speeding up, and 2, yes I said 2 water heaters. Both broke in 2011 and we replaced them in January of 2012. So they needed to go. Since one part of the weekend challenge was to DO something you had been procrastinating on, I thought this would qualify.
On Saturday we put out the treadmill (sans 2 bolts and turn on key) and couch. (The treadmill was gone was gone by Sunday night when we got home from our friend’s house about 9 PM). We spent both most of Saturday and Sunday playing games with friends, one of which was back from Korea for a brief visit before going back to his teaching job. I did a 1 mile walk w/Leslie and then also walked up to Wing Stop and back for lunch with my husband and I added some strength training moves after the 1 mile “walk”. Before we could put out the couch and treadmill I had to move/clean around them. It took me over an hour including breaking down probably 30 boxes and throwing them into the recycle bin and giving 3 (smallish) boxes to my parents community thrift store including one box of dishes that we weren’t using. Tracked food – surprisingly within calories.
On Sunday I got in a quick 2 mile (24-minute) walk w/Leslie before heading out to get our hair done. I also picked up some trash discovered by moving out the stuff to the back alley and things lying around the living room while waiting for our friend to come over so we could carpool to another friend’s house for games. (She has a much cleaner house with more room to spread out the games right now. I also did 5 minutes of strength training moves (calf rocking, squat, biceps curls to shoulder presses, hammer curls and lateral arm raises. My arms are still sore from that one. Tracked food – surprisingly within calories.
Yesterday I didn’t feel good and after having been up until 5AM I didn’t think it would be a good idea to go into work. If it had been because I was reading or chose to stay up that would have been different. But… I had an upset stomach with all the attendant consequences whenever I tried to lie down. So I spent most of the night on either the couch or in the rest room. So I relaxed most of the day reading/drowsing/sleeping. By 4PM I knew that if I was going to keep my streak of 7K + steps a day I would need to walk with Leslie a minimum of 3 miles (or just over 6K steps). Once I started I was like I can keep going. It’s not too bad, so I did 48 minutes of stepping (4 miles) and 1-mile of the full program walk (doesn’t get me as many steps as most moves like kicks and knee lifts are done on a two count). I counted that as my strength training as I carried 3-lb weights for half of the time and did the kicks, knee lifts and other 2 beat exercise with arms/abs and legs involved. Then before I went in and took a shower I dusted around the area cleaned out, picked up the small trash there and threw out a few paper products from the computer room for a total of somewhere between 15 – 20 minutes. I am glad I came in to work today but I’ve been feeling worse as the day wears on.
Next weekend we are playing games with the same people, but this time we will be providing the food so I can have a little better control over the calories. Have to think about that some more.
This past week we have eaten at home more often than not for dinner. That’s a good thing. Now I just need to continue that and start preparing lunches to take as well. I know this will help me in getting this excess weight off and being overall healthier.
I’m also looking forward to Thursday & Friday. We have cooking classes on those nights. On Thursday we learn how to use and care for our knives. On Friday we are learning to make… sushi! YUM! If we can start making sushi and taking it for lunches or eating it more at home that would work well into our new eating philosophy. I’ve been looking forward to it as most of you know for several weeks.
My Club Azure membership goals for the week of 1/23/13 – 1/30/13 are as follows:
Nutrition 1: Track all food eaten.
Nutrition 2: Stay in range a minimum of 5 days this week.
Exercise 1: Continue walking 7,000 + steps daily until at least March 2, 2013
Exercise 2: Continue adding in 5 minutes of strength training daily with rotating arms, core and legs
Relaxation 1: Go to bed by 10:30 PM on weeknights and before 11:30 PM on weekends.
Personal 1: Continue cleaning/decluttering 15 minutes a day. It’s amazing how much that really helps.
Personal 2: Do 1 load of laundry daily as needed 5 days a week.
