'The Public Humiliation Diet' and Making Life My Bizitch

Tuesday, January 22, 2013

Today I came across a post on Deadspin called "The Public Humiliation Diet" deadspin.com/5545674/the
-public-humiliation-diet-a
-how+to

While it lacks much of the positivity SparkPeople seems to be about, it is more my speed. I am just saying that I am an optimist. But I am also sarcastic, rough around the edges and have always liked it that way. So seeing his view of his weight loss journey (one that worked, by the way) was awesome.

One thing he mentioned is that he has a big old mug of green tea, unsweetened, at the end of every meal. Simply to signify the meal has ended, otherwise he will keep eating and "all my meals blended together. Breakfunchinner is a better meal than most people realize." LOL

Anyway, I don't have a whole lot of the issues he does with food, but I do have my own, as well as a couple that are unique to (not-so) little old me. That is one tip that I really like, because while I am usually pretty good during the day about keeping within calorie range, when a binge does come on it is always at night.

I think I am going to try that, having a cup or two of green tea at the end of every meal. It will be a good way to get more water in, as well. Just one after each meal is three cups, four if I have a snack mid-day. Add that to the three to six I drink plain, and I am golden.

In other life news, I have set out to once more conquer life and make it my bizitch (God, the SP ban of swearing is annoying as 'shark'). I am getting back into a full day routine, which I had before but fell apart during the holidays, and then a few weeks after. :P

Morning

Morning Internet stuff, like emails and SparkCoach
Setting daily tasks
Cleaning up wherever might be needed
Working out

Afternoon

Work

Evening

Dinner
Any other work undone
Laundry

This is in addition to being with my kids, homework help, ect. It is nice being back into things like I was, my life feels so much more manageable when I am doing things on schedule. So I have a clean apartment, I am doing great with my article orders, and my kids are behaving. Plus, I am losing weight again. Life is sweet.

Hmm, I may need to check out this Green Tea thing, because I need to find some way to tell my body that it is finished eating.

Good plan! :)

So I start reading the "Public Humiliation Diet" post at my desk at work and I start laughing so hard that I snort. Extremely loudly. Anyway- thanks for posting this! Green tea is such a good idea! I'm totally trying this today!! The part in the post that I snorted at was: "I used to eat two plates at dinner, minimum. I'd spend my first helping thinking about my second, which is idiotic. It's the SAME F****** FOOD. Then I'd finish my seconds and hover over my wife's plate like a goddamn buzzard. Hoping she wouldn't finish so I could eat her food. I even ate her food a few times before she was done. Wives get f****** PISSED when you do that. I also had to get over my hatred of throwing away perfectly edible food that other people didn't eat. Nothing pisses me off more, but it's not like a Rwandan AIDS baby will get to eat it if I pass it up."

Thanks for linking that! I'm really on the same page with him as far as: If I'm going to be on a diet, I'm going to eat tasty food. Good luck & it's great that you're getting back into your routine! I think it's definitely hard for those of us who are at home for most of the day!

I love your writing. Hopefully you'll find that green tea idea helpful. I haven't read about it being an appetite suppressant, but I have read something about boosting your metabolism if drank within 2 hours of eating a meal. I'm no scientist though, so don't quote me on that :)

You need to figure out what works for you. I drink the green tea but not after meals, maybe I will try that. If it works and you like it. , , go for it. Good luck and have a great journey.
