Last week after feeling shin splints over the past couple of weeks I decided that I needed to forcefully put myself on punishment to make sure that I would actually scale back and let my leg do some recovery. So last week I did all of my runs on the TREADMILL aka the DREADMILL. Honestly I should not whine about this...but I will :) I actually got a new treadmill for my birthday back in November and she is a pretty thing with lots of fancy dials. Also, the weather around here has been less than cooperative so running in my nice cozy basement is way nicer than trying to dodge ice around my neighborhood.
The treadmill is soooooooo B-O-R-I-N-G!!!! So much so that I have started a terrible habit that is driving me mad! You see, in my basement I do have cable television, HOWEVER, at 5AM or 6AM there isn't anything on TV, seriously. I could watch the news but sometimes it's depressing and I would rather just gets my news on the Internet. The news most definitely will not put a pep in my step. Then there are endless informercials...I am seriously about ready to purchase ProActiv because I am now convinced that the dark spot corrector will save my skin for sure! OR if I am lucky there will be a P90X or Chalean Extreme informercial on which is awesome when that happens because what is more motivating than seeing people contort their bodies in crazy ways with high energy music right?! Now those are my kind of informercials. HOWEVER, these are not on all the time and frankly I think that I have seen the entire P90X one so many times I already know the success stories before they show the after pics. So, with this challenge I have begun a new habit. I have now taken to watching music videos on MTV and sometimes VH1 early in the mornings. And I must say, if you are not watching these new videos out there you are NOT missing very much! I know that I am only 33 years old and I refuse to believe that I am ancient at this point but seriously, these videos are TERRIBLE! Now I am or was perhaps a fan of hip-hop or pop-py kind of music for many years. And I realize that even my so called hit music from the 90s era was probably way lame too but this crap is freakin' awful! But it's like a bad car wreck, I cannot look away! So each morning I have to stomach through people singing about ridiculous things which are quite comical if you are really listening because these people think that are way hardcore while I think that their skinny jeans are ridiculous! Then they think that they are so bad@ss and beautiful when I think that they look pretty jacked in the face, I mean who is doing these people's images?? This cannot be what the kids think is hot is it?? Anyhow, somehow I end up bopping around to stupid Ke$ha who needs to wash her hair, I don't mind that Lumineers diddy about the "I'm in love with you, you're in love with me..." that one I think is cute, I can even stand T.I. with Trey Songz singing about the "Ladies and the Drinks" because I find it catchy and it definitely makes me move but I almost seriously fell off the treadmill from watching this gem of a video by the artist named Trinidad James called "Gold everything" or something like that. Stupidest video that I have EVER seen in my life!
The madness must stop because I am losing my mind! It's either I am no longer cool - which I REFUSE to accept or the music world is going down the toilet QUICKLY!
I must get off punishment and get outside! Today was the last day of my punishment too BUT it freakin' snowed last evening so I could not run outside AGAIN! Tomorrow I am emancipated and I WILL take it to the streets! I have NO TIME for lame videos...
