So, after a year or so of mild depression and moderate weight gain after the death of my parents, I'm hoping to get back to at least being active on the teams and logging in every day. I had gotten up to 170 on the doctor's scale and he as well as my family and close friends were worried as my BMI got closer and closer to the obese range. Dec 31st, my daughter and I started a "Detox" diet where for one week you are quite resricted in what you eat. Limied mostly to fruit and vegetables, nuts and fish once or twice a week, some yogurt, and whole grains, no wheat the first week helps to reset your body to a significantly different lifestyle. My hubby agreed to cooperate by not having us eat out or too many visits or having people over. The first week was somewhat hard, I really missed the salt and sugar (we could have a little honey) but I lost about 4 pounds, so that was a great motivator. Oh, and no caffeine I just remembered as I took a break to pour a steaming cup of herbal tea. I had already lost about 5 pounds during christmas from being sick and not eating alot in anticipation of the detox. After 1 week, we added skim milk and whole wheat pita and brown rice into the mix. Next week chicken! then eggs! Now we get Cheese! I missed my cheese, but only once or twice a week, not every hour (darn it). Went to the dr yesterday because I'm sick again (and I don't blame the diet, it is very healthy) and the scale said 159! I did the happy dance right there on the scale but the Dr is now concerned at too much weight loss (11 pounds in 6 weeks) but I tried to explain it was intentional. Soo.....off work one more day to recuperate from this "bronchitis" that the whole country is suffering from plus it is about 7 degrees outside and I have time to finally get back on Sparkers and brag about my progress. Woo Hoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
