Helllllloo fellow Sparkers!
I'm in a superb mood today due to the awesome 2 mile jog [it was freezing!!] I got in last night, going to bed at 8:30 (yeah, I'm so OLD!) and waking up for yoga this a.m.!
[Mallory the red-nosed runner]
Since the holidays are over, I'm feeling much more relaxed and ready to tackle getting back into shape. Slowly but surely I've been working up my running routine. I've been trying to run 5 days of the week, but some days it just doesn't work. Either I have a conflict, or I'm just too exhausted. I think there's a huge difference between being a big baby and making up excuses for yourself, and just simply being *tired*. This time around, I'm going to allow myself to lay off for a day. Pushing yourself is one thing, but going too far is another.
Anyway, so I was stumbling the other day and I came across Elizabeth Banks' blog. If you don't know her, she's a pretty famous actress (effie trinkett in Hunger Games, The GF in Role Models, and like..100 other awesome shows). I didn't even know she had a blog. But she was promoting this new detox, so I decided to investigate.
Now, I know on this site there are a lot of people who totally disagree with detoxes. Believe me, I'm one of them. This is not the type of detox you're thinking of. Basically it comes with the following (for the 14-day cleanse):
Organic Super Green Drink Mix - (120 Grams) Our Organic Super Green was born out of our wishing such a product existed for our own use. We would talk about how it would be great if there were a 100% organic, 100% raw, 100% vegan, 100% HEALTHY protein powder out there -- with no fillers and no average ingredients -- strictly the best ingredients planet Earth has to offer. Add 1 scoop (8g) of Organic Super Greens to an 8 ounce glass of water or the beverage of your choice, stir or blend well and enjoy.
Vegetarian Protein Powder - (270 Grams) Pea Protein is a natural, vegetable-based protein powder derived from yellow peas (Pisum sativum). Yellow peas are more commonly known as “split peas” and are used extensively in food preparation such as in soups & purees. Most commercially available protein powders are derived from soy, rice, eggs, or dairy, which are often problematic for those with allergic dietary concerns. We’ve chosen Pea Protein because it is a plant-based, hypoallergenic protein that yields a high biological value (65.4%). Pea Protein is ideal for vegans, offers an excellent nutritional profile, is free of gluten, lactose, cholesterol and other anti-nutritional factors. Mix 2 Tablespoons (18g) of Pea Protein powder into (8) ounces of cold beverage of choice. Stir or blend to desired consistency. It can also be easily blended with frozen fruit to make a smoothie.
Super Probiotics - (15 capsules) Unlike most probiotics in the market, ours is vegan. It is natural support for maintaining healthy flora balance in the gastrointestinal tract. A carefully assembled cast of probiotic organisms arrayed to meet our diverse population’s needs, each strain has a slightly different profile to maximize the environment for strains already in the gut. Take one capsule daily on an empty stomach with an 8oz glass of water.
Super Fiber - (45 capsules) Among developed nations, Americans have one of the lowest fiber contents in their diet, which inevitably affects overall health status. An 11 gram dose of Rawjuvenate Fiber contains a blend of soluble and insoluble fiber totaling nearly 6.5 grams of fiber per dose. Healthy for long-term maintenance of bowels, our blend of natural ingredients is specially formulated to be safe and effective, providing just the right amount of bulk for normal digestive system function. Take 1 to 3 Capsules with an 8oz glass of water.
Super Aloe - (45 capsules) Our Super Aloe is formulated with high-quality Aloe Ferox for quick relief of constipation without the use of synthetics. Regarded as one of the best on the market, our Super Aloe provides natural relief for occasional constipation. Take 1 to 3 Capsules with an 8oz glass of water.
It's all natural, and you don't have to drink ONLY this. You just replace one meal with it, which for me has been breakfast since I don't typically eat a lot for breakfast anyway. I've been mixing the powder with Silk Almond milk, but it makes the milk *super* thick and that totally grosses me out, so this morning I stopped by Mickey D's and got a small strawberry banana smoothie and mixed it with that. It was spectacular. It turned it green, though.
Looks are deceiving - it's delicious.
So it's stupid expensive, right? $120 for the 14 day cleanse. But the day I got it, they just happened to have a half off sale, so I got it for cheap. I also got a coupon for $10 off my next purchase. Hopefully they'll have another sale soon.
I already feel like I have more energy and [this is random] my face is all...glowing. It's totally weird. And awesome.
In other news, Dillon's has a new product line of organic items called "Simple Truth." It's genius. Totally awesome.
I bought organic multivitamins and stocked up on Luna Bars [my fav]. I know organic is more expensive, but with all of the processed crap we put into our systems these days, I feel like wherever I can replace that with whole foods, I should.
What about you guys - how are the New Year's Resolutions hangin' in there?
