Better Day Today!

Monday, January 21, 2013

Well I think whatever I had is going away, because I felt much better today. I even exercised and did a little more and different exercises today. I am still struggling some with getting the Nutrition part right. Though I am not over in Calories, I still have a problem getting the Carb, Protein, Fat proportions correct. I always seem to come up short in the Protein area and surprisingly, the fat area. I am not nearly as concerned with the Fat part, since it seems to be a pretty small amt., but I am concerned about the Protein part. I think I am going to get a list of foods that have good amounts of Protein without any Carbs. That seems to be the problem is that most of the things I have been been eating in the protein area have some Carbs attached too. I also know I need to eat more fish, especially Salmon, which I am not a big fan of, but will try to find a good way to make it that I may like. My family does like it, so it really is just a matter of finding a good way to make it that I will like. I hate fried anything, but do like baked and grilled, but I need a good marinade or a way to get rid of the "salmon y" flavor I do not like!

I love salmon. I just roast it in the oven with a little olive oil, salt and pepper. Sometimes I use lemon pepper on it.

I don't think I mentioned eggs on my list I gave you last night. I use egg beaters because if you have just one egg, you have over half your recommended daily cholesterol. I don't have a cholesterol problem, nor do I want one. Eggs and Egg
Beaters run very closely in Protein. You'll be a pro at this in no time. Good Luck and keep us posted.

You'll figure it out, I'm sure. Ramona has a great list. Also, low fat or FF greek yogurt. I'm not a big fan of Greek yogurt, but I find if I add just a little sweetener it seems to take the tanginess away a bit, which is what I don't like about it. Good luck!! You'll do great.

Glad you're feeling better and you're on the mend. I have eaten salmon like twice only in my whole life (and that was in the past year) as I had never tasted fish before like 2 years ago... I grill my salmon with just a lot of lemon juice on it and around it.

I guess you don't like Tuna either? It has a lot of protein and no carbs, as does:

Turkey breast
Lean ground beef
Ground turkey
Chicken breast without skin
Pork
Eggs

Hope this list helps.
