Newly organized

Monday, January 21, 2013

Well here is the new bookcase wall. I tried to find a picture of what it looked like before but I can't find it right now. In August of 2011 we painted and did the room over for Isabella. So the walls are pink and we did the decal flower/bug stickers. It had a bookcase on this wall, it was 24" tall and 40" long and was over backed with kid books, we have bookcases everywhere that are overflowing. Some of them were packed 2 deep. Time for a change.
We bought Billy bookcases from IKEA and put them together on Sunday, today we restocked the shelves. Kid books on the lower levels, fiction on the left, non fiction in the center and on the right we have our Catholic books, lots of books. It's amazing what you find when you empty the old bookcases to rearrange. I found we now own duplicates of some books (because when we needed them they couldn't be found) and sometimes the books have no redemptive value. We threw a way a few that were beat up, and have a large bag to donate to the book sale at church.
The small bookcase that was in this room has been relocated to my sewing room! Now I have more storage for craft books and magazines.
I hope to do more organizational things in the coming weeks, but we are on the big push to get our 2nd quarter of homeschool done too.

I have been off my exercise routine for a while now. I was taking Aleve for my joints and I had an allergic reaction to it. My legs have a horrid rash and it's painful. But I hope to be back to active life in a few days. My guess is that is also why I have felt so down and lethargic, I have never taken this med before but someone I know said it really worked for them so I gave it a try.

Ah books, I lovet o read and I have a huge collection only 2 small book cases. I love the idea of floor to ceiling bookcase but I could never get to the top bad arthritic legs and very bad balance. Could get a couple of 5 ft ones though. Thanks for sharing. Hope your rash clears up soon and you are able to start being more active.

It looks great and I am absolutely envious! We've got a little room in the center of our house which we use for our bookshelves, and that's almost all that fits in there--only thing is, now, all the books are in stacks in no discernible order, and there's so much other junk in the room it's hard to get in there and even look for the books you want...

Now that my older girl is 3 she's starting to get quite a collection of books, too, and they're beginning to stack up in our living room near her toybox. But I use the word "stack" here very loosely.

I am so sorry to read about your allergic reaction, Annette! It sounds terrible. And feeling lethargic isn't nice either. I really hope you'll feel much better soon.
The new bookcases arrangement looks good and neat! have Billy bookcases at home too! Three of them in my living room, but I am thinking of 'downgrading' to just two, giving more books away. I put them by themes as well. For the fiction books, I put them by alphabetical order of the authors, so that I can find them quickly if I need them. It helps.

They look great! You make me want to go on an organizing rampage. Actually, I've been wanting to go on one; you just made me want to do it even more!
I'm sorry to hear about your allergic reaction. It seems like you've had to battle through a lot of physical problems lately. Good for you for still accomplishing projects despite that! Hopefully you'll be able to get back to exercising soon, too.

Love the bookcase! I'm getting one of those cubicle cabinets for Hayden's room in the next few weeks. It will make a world a difference in his room and I can't wait! Love the feeling of getting organized. Great job! Hope you get to feeling better and the rash goes away quickly.
