So...after completing the Disney Goofy Challenge last weekend, we went on our cruise and had a wonderful time! It was totally relaxing! Did no dancing, no shore excursions, just rested. It was perfect! Was sore most of the week, and trying to catch a cold which wasn't good.
Well yesterday, I completed the Clearwater Marathon, another 26.2 just a week after completing 39.3! Within the 3rd Mile, I was thinking "And just why I am I doing this again?" I felt okay and kept my pace slow, walking every half mile or so. Had some foot issues early and and my calves were on fire the entire race! The weather was perfect, overcast and cool and the course was wonderful, about half along the water and the other half along beautiful neighborhoods. There were 3 bridges and 3 steep overpasses. Was not expecting that. I didn't even try to run those!
Stopped to take a view pictures of the view, went to the bathroom twice. Finished in 5:26. Better than Disney, wasn't really looking for a particular time to finish, was just happy to finish.
So doing these races officially gets me into the Marathon Maniacs (you have to at least do 2 Marathons in 16 days, of which I did them in 8 days OR 3 marathons within 90 days, which I did 3 within 36 days). This is why I did the race yesterday, just for Marathon Maniac status. And I'm not the only crazy one, there were at least half dozen people doing the same thing, including one Running Friend who ran Disney as her first marathon, then a week later does an even better time yesterday!
So 9 days, 3 races, 65.5 miles...Time for a break! Will do very little running for about 2 weeks to give my body time to really rest. And will NEVER do anything like this again lol! From Marathon Maniac #6557!
