Taper, Taper, TAPER!

Still loving it!

Ran 4x 6 miles last week and then a "long" run of 12 miles on Saturday AM. It took my legs a little while to warm up, but over the second half, I averaged my marathon goal pace, so that made me feel pretty confident.

Sunday I ran 4 easy miles and I was NOT feeling it! It definitely takes me a while to warm up, so short runs are usually disappointing to me. But, it did leave me with a lot of free time for the rest of the day! I spent it staining this wooden console that came with the house. We were considering tossing it, but I found a can of dark stain and it really brought it to life!

Anyway, the highlight of the weekend was meeting Spaker Patty - SEEHOLZ! She and her hubby Dan were having a little anniversary weekend away and chose Miami. I was so thrilled to finally meet her - she was one of my first Spark friends and she remains one of my favorites! It was like meeting an old friend - she and Dan (who is totally awesome, BTW!) drove over from their hotel and we took a long walk along the beach, just chatting like old friends. I know that if I lived in Ohio or she lived here, we would be doing that on a regular basis. Of course, now that I typed all that, I am hoping that she and Dan didn't think I'm a complete idiotic weirdo! HA!

Other than that, Larry was really sick from Friday through today. He had a fever, but no other symptoms, so I am hoping I don't catch whatever he had. We slept in separate rooms and I avoided him as much as possible, other than to deliver Gatorade and Tylenol to him! Wearing rubber gloves! LOL!

Just a few more days till the marathon! Cannot wait!

I'm glad to hear that your taper is going well (I seem to recall that you have a difficult time with taper :-) ) and I am doing a healthy dance to make sure you don't catch Larry's funk. Good luck at ING - I am bummed I am not doing any marathons as planned this season. The second half of 2012 was definitely NOT my time as far as running is concerned but I am coming BACK!

Also, I keep thinking about Operation Sharon Freedom and I can't wait to hear when it's been executed! You have inspired me to start planning Operation No More Corporate Carolyn.

It so SOOOO great to meet you! You are definitely YOU in person! I totally agree- if we lived closer, we would hang out regularily! I love the most that there was no fuss, no expectations, no pretenses- just being us :-)

And I really enjoyed our Miami getaway-- now, when you write your blogs, I can picture your runs a little better :-) And, the blue water is absolutely breath taking....

Enjoy these last few days of taper and have a great time on Sunday!!! I am definitely going to be thinking of you. Fingers crossed for a fabulous race!!!

Oh Larry, please stay away from Sharon. She would not be a happy camper if she were to get sick. Please!!

Wooo Hooooooooo! This time next week we will be sporting our new medals!!!

It is nice to meet sparkers in person; glad you enjoyed spending time with your friend.

Sorry to hear Larry is sick. My kids are sick, but on the tail end of it. I am on top of them about washing their hands and drinking lots of water. They would get better quicker if they would stop drinking from each other's cups.

I am feeling good going into this half. I just wish I would have done more hills (bridges). I hope to meet up with you before the race!
