Brr! It's so cold in Nebraska today. My new bike is sitting in the garage and I went so badly to hop on and take a ride. Just now I tested to see if I could easily get my arthritic knee over that "girl" bar and I CAN! But it's snowing now, and very very cold, and with this weight loss, I am SO COLD all the time. Losing that layer of fat/insulation has mostly good effects, but being cold all the time is NOT one of them!
Isn't she beautiful? I think I need to name her--I'll have to do some thinking on that.
I got my counted cross stitch box out this weekend. I put it away a few months ago, when I was playing so much Words With Friends on my new iPhone, that I never picked it up. But then I started using way too much of our data allowance so I decided I better do some cross-stitching again. I had bought a small kit at Michael's--and finished it in about a week. I have about a million books of designs, tons of cloth and threat, so decided to pull out the box and see what to do next. I found an afghan that I bought many many years ago. I have started stitching this afghan, time after time, usually with the Precious Moment alphabet, but always pulled the stitched back out, unhappy with how it was turning out. So last night I decided to use the Care Bear alphabet on it. I think I'm going to like it! This is how it looks as I'm starting out. I'll post a picture when I finish it--probably a year or two from now!
I have used this Care Bear alphabet before, making numerous children's names out of the letters and giving them as framed gifts to be hung in baby's/children's rooms. I loved Care Bears when they first came out back in the 1980's and even decorated my youngest son's nursery with Care Bear wallpaper. I collected the stuffed animals, but really thought the whole Care Bear thing had fallen out of popularity. When my son got married in 2005, my daughter-in-law, it turns out, was also a fan of Care Bears, much to my delight! I made Care Bear letter names for all three of my grandchildren and also several other friends who had babies. It was a labor of love--the letters are colorful and have fairly easy to follow directions, especially when you've made most of the letters numerous times. I also like the results, I think they're very cute.
Amber & Duncan came out Saturday night while their parents went to a movie. Duncan spent the entire evening watching You Tube videos of his newest video game obsession: Minecraft. Even though he has versions of the Minecraft game for several different outlets, including PC, we all think he prefers to watch the You Tube videos about playing it.
Amber entertained us, as she always does. She danced and posed:
In short, she charms us all with her sparkling vibrant personality.
Even Lola would love to play with Amber more, but Amber and Duncan are both still pretty scared of our rambunctious puppy.
I had a horrible weekend, eating-wise, and have resolved to be better this week. Wish me luck!
