We just got home from seeing Tommy's oncologist. The news was not as bad as it could have been, but still not good. The nodules in his lungs have gotten larger since his last scan and there are some new ones also. For this reason, he is starting back on chemo next Monday. He's going back on the Folfirinox treatments that he was on before so he'll be receiving treatments every other week.
Additionally, there is something going on with his liver, but not sure exactly what. She said there is some dilation of the biliary ducts, but his liver function tests were normal so the liver still appears to be draining okay. While dilated ducts can be indicative of a tumor blocking the duct, they can't see anything on the scan, only the enlarged duct. She said that if he starts having any pain, itching or appears to be getting jaundice we need to call her immediately. They are also going to follow up with regular liver function tests.
For now, we are continuing to enjoy every day and will begin planning a trip to the southwest in the spring. Tommy says the doctors will just have to work his treatments around vacation because he's going. I love his attitude!
I hope you all have a wonderful week. Thank you for all your prayers!
