Sharing a moment of intense pride
Sunday, January 20, 2013
This past month, my life has been upended. My routines have all changed. I have new job that requires me to spend lots of time sitting at a desk, and I have at least a 90-minute commute every day.
While I'm thrilled at the changes in my life, I've been concerned that I was going to become sedentary, and that the very physical life that I'd been building during my 10 months of unemployment would be sabotaged against these odds.
My friends, I have been unable to do real, hard exercise since the beginning of December because of bronchitis and then the flu, and I have been terrified. TERRIFIED. But I'm moving every way I possibly can, whenever I can, and loving my Fitbit as if it had a beating heart.
So here's the pride part. I was just reading my email from the SparkChicago group and had a quick look at the leaderboard. Here's what I saw:
What can I say? In a month where I have had to MAKE the fitness happen without the luxury of a set schedule and routine, I have outdone myself by a LOT. I have never been above 50 in the Chicago fitness minutes. Now I'm #11.
2013 is just so my year. This is the year I became a Weeble. You know, I wobble, but I don't fall down!
OMG you guys... so I got another SparkChicago email just now. Check this out!
Any old Seinfield fans out there? Imagine me, as Elaine. I've just shoved you and shouted, "SHUT UP!" Me? 7? Single digit ranking? GLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
