Recap & Planning

Sunday, January 20, 2013

This week went pretty well for me. I had two events planned this weekend - on Friday and Saturday nights - and had no idea where we would end up for food. I don't want "Beth's Diet" to ever become something that limits a good night out (especially since we don't go out on the town very often), so I didn't stress it. I turned off calorie-counting-Beth and just tried to do the intuitive eating philosophy. If I knew it would make me feel worse to eat it than not to eat it, I left it on the plate.

We had phenomenal food on Friday. After a few hours at the boat show, we went to a place called Bangers ( bangersaustin.com/ ) that I ADORE. DH and I split poutine, then I had a duck, bacon, & fig sausage in a pretzel bun, with a touch of spicy sauerkraut (last two bites given to DH). There was also some aioli and brown gravy sauces, but I didn't need them. DH had more fries and I only ate ONE. ONE FRY. We came home and had some tres leches cake; I only needed two or three bites. And, I had three beers. Which is low for me for a "night out" - I only drank beer I REALLY like, which made it incredibly satisfying. I had a Brooklyn Lager (at Bar96 www.96austin.com/ where we waited till they could seat us at Bangers) , a North Coast Old Rasputin Imperial Stout (Nitro) (at Bangers), and a Left-Hand Milk Stout Nitro (bought at the grocery, consumed at home). To sum up....it was an awesome night in food. I don't feel even a twinge guilty because I really paid attention to everything I ate and enjoyed it all.

emoticon The rest of the week can be summed up by-the-numbers. I stayed in calorie range everyday but the two evenings out. I promised to be within range every day until my official weigh-in on Friday, which I achieved. I got in all my workouts except for an HIIT run. I need to do that on days when I'm super-motivated...I do NOT like them. I DID work in abs work four times a week and box jumps during my upper body workouts.

emoticon My plan for the next week is going up on my main page, but will be about the same - perfect Sunday - Friday, some leeway but only one night this time instead of two. ALSO, I need to get some focus my water. I'm going to keep lifting heavy for a fourth week, with the goal of trying to push myself outside my comfort zone for a one-rep max. (And to test the formula for 1RM that I've been using.) I'm keeping box jumps and abs work and accessory work for my upper body. I'm ADDING 10 min of yoga per day and at least one accessory exercise on lower body days. I also want to do TWO HIIT sessions this week. ugh.

emoticon The week after is going to involve flying to Reno, riding in a bus to Tahoe, and then SNOWBOARDING!! So I'm hoping the box jumps and HIIT will help with that.
