Back to the Basics

Sunday, January 20, 2013

Reading Sunday's Healthy Living section, there was an article about going back to basic exercises. Both yesterday and today, I went back to walking (outside). When I started this weight loss program, I started by walking outside. I remember starting with the goal of walking 15 minutes, then 1/2 hour. Gradually I progressed up to 1 mile, the 2 miles and then 3+ miles. Since then I've run a 5K and I'm looking forward to running another in the Spring.

My how your finish line keeps creating new horizons!
It's great -- and inspiring! -- to read the chronology of exercise milestones and events.
Your choices, your tenacity, your active going-forth and reaching for your dreams -- have brought you to this place -- it's great to take a moment and savor these victories.

I love love love walking outside..... it does something for me mentally ! It just takes me to a better place. Its been the coldest temps of our season here this week and I have not walked outside since friday and I miss it terribly. I hope to get back outside this coming weekend with warmer temps. In the meantime I'm doing my leslie tapes inside......

Congrats on completing your 5k! I am on the 15 minute walk part! Had knee surgery, so no running for this girl but am now up to a 20 minute walk. One more week at 20 then going to try 30. Thanks for inspiring me!
