I've gone to the dogs....

Sunday, January 20, 2013

2012 brought much success in healthy eating and spending less on groceries and household necessities.

Which brings me to a few days back. DH lets me know we are on our last feeding of dog food and it is, yet again, time to go to town for more.

Light dawns on marble head....finally!

Here we are eating as healthy as possible and also buying premium dog food so our pooches can eat healthy too. Who is eating better? Who is spending more?

Starting February, I plan on journaling all of my cooking and food spending. Until then...

I looked around the web until comfortable and went to work.

For the past few days our canine family has been on a diet of brown rice, yams, cooked veggies (small amount) and various protein leftovers (chicken, ham and salmon). Our smallest (Sherman, my Jack Russell), has always had food allergies, this has already been his diet for quite some time. Up until now, we have been buying it at $20 a small bag for him only, forever.

Not wanting to shout hallelujah in premature fashion, I waited to make sure our dogs system's were not too upset. So far everything around here is normal. I can't believe that their stools did not even seem to change at all.

I will keep studying, making sure they are getting what they need. But for now, we are trading the $80 monthly dog food budget into bulk brown rice, turkeys and chicken. Woo Hoo!!!

Have a great day!

What sweet babies! I love Shermans picture at the table too! He seems to be wondering if and why you are pulling a switcheroo on his usual fare!
