All the Burpees

I had been doing GREAT nutritionally until Thursday night. I went to my husband's company's holiday party and decided to treat myself to an entire slice of cheesecake. It was great and I don't think I've had cheesecake since their holiday party last year, after which I went on a sugar rampage and went out for an ice cream sundae and who knows what else. So, it could've been worse. Friday, I went out for drinks and yesterday I was just really snacky and hit the nuts too hard. I'm determined to get back to good habits today. I'm going out to brunch with a friend in an hour. A veggie omelet and bacon is the perfect start!

After Karen on Monday, I didn't make it back into CF until Friday. I was still really sore on Wednesday and Thursday night was the holiday party. The WOD was pretty brutal:


For time:

75 KB Swings (72/53)

Every minute on the minute, put the KB down and complete three burpees. After the three burpees are completed, resume the KB Swings. Do this until you have completed all 75 swings. The workout begins with three burpees.

upon completion of the swings, imediately transition to

75 Burpees

Every minute on the minute, stop doing burpees and complete 3 KB Swings. After the KB Swings are completed, resume the burpees. Do this until you have completed all 75 burpees.

I used a 40# KB, which is the highest I have ever used. I'm comfortable using 35# when it is the Rx weight, so I figure I need to push myself a little harder if the Rx is 53#. I had a little trouble with that weight a few times, but overall, did well. The second part with the burpees was awful. At that point, you are already pretty tired and can't bang out that many burpees in one minute. They seemed to be going so slow I though I'd be there forever. I finished in 14:35, which is just around the middle of where people were finishing (9:30-18:00...how people were finishing in the 9 minute range, I will never understand!).

Afterwards, I decided to stay for strength class. They are doing a Russian squat cycle right now, meaning they squat 3x week. It sounds terrible and awesome at the same time and I'm kind of jealous I'm missing it. One of my old lifting partners from strength class decided to come with me instead of do burpees, so it was even more fun. The class was doing 6 sets of 5 @ 80% but our coach had us do 4s @ 75% since we haven't been working up to that volume with them. We also did bench press, romanian deadlifts, and sit ups.

I thought about doing the WOD yesterday, but my shoulders were feeling all those burpees, so I went to yoga instead, which was an awesome choice. All that stretching felt AMAZING. I need to try and go in for yoga 1x a week!

    That sounds horrible... LOL. I really hate KB swings (not sure why exactly... just hate them...) and I don't know anybody who really loves burpees. I probably won't be trying that one at home!
