Making progress...slowly

Have you ever just had one of those days with your kids? That day where you got in an amazing workout and yes you are feeling fatigued but very pleased with yourself and somehow that is the very day they choose to act a fool? That was today for me. I love my son dearly but my gosh could he have been any worse this afternoon?!?!? It was just one thing after another! The kids and us adults alike don't go back to school until Tuesday either. I don't know how I am going to entertain this kid for that long without losing my mind. I think he just didn't sleep well last night b/c he passed out within 20 mins of going to bed tonight so I'm hoping he will hit his reset button and tomorrow will be better.
I did get in a fabulous workout. As most of you know I am training for the Gritty Goddess 5k mud fun run with my sister in May. I created a workout playlist a week or so ago and put it to good use this afternoon. I wish I had had my headphones all along but I'm not a morning person and I just have been forgetting to throw my headphones in with my workout clothes when I am getting ready for school in the morning. I got on the treadmill today and turned on the tunes. "Tribal Dance" by 2unlimited will get you moving for sure so I challenged myself to walk for one entire song and then run for the next one. It worked like a charm b/c I know the music very well so I have a good idea of exactly how long I was running for each song. I ended up running/walking for a little over 2 miles! Super proud of myself b/c the 5k is 3.1 miles so I'm doing well. Now if I can just adjust my eating to reflect that dedication I will be good to go. The eating is the hardest part of this whole thing but I'm learning as I go.

    Hope you're keeping your sanity. I don't have kids, but I used to teach preschool and had a roomful of the little "angels". Winter was always the hardest...they couldn't help it. They had so much pent-up energy and we couldn't always take them out on the playground.

    I'm glad you were still able to meet your fitness goals. I'm going to do a workout with my new stability ball (bought w/ Christmas money). I am getting over the flu, so I don't want to do a ton of cardio. Just keep it simple.
