On an elimination diet for my nursing son....and lost 20lbs!

It's so much easier to be on a diet when you have no choice. I am on a total allergy elimination diet trying to help my nursing 5 month old with severe food allergies feel better. As a great side effect, I've lost 20 lbs in just over a month! I guess avoiding common allergen foods helped me too...I probably have a few foods I'm allergic to that I didn't realize and that make it hard to lose weight. The funny thing is I'm eating the same calories as usual, but not eating wheat, gluten-grains, soy, dairy, corn, nightshade veggies, mushrooms, tropical fruit, some berries, bananas, avocados and sugar. It's really restrictive but I've gotten use to it. I can't cheat because the baby will get sick, there is no better motivator than that. It will be interesting to see what happens as I introduce foods back.

    That would definitely be hard to cut out so much. But good for you for doing it for your son. It's just a bonus that it helped you out too. Do you think you'll continue it when you're not nursing him?
