So tired of losing the same pound over and over again!

Saturday, January 19, 2013

I know the scale isn't everything... my clothes are looser and I can see I'm losing fat (4 inches overall since I started with my trainer this fall), so I'm obviously gaining muscle, but I sure wish I could drop some weight, too.

I'm adding some treadmill work and some stair climbs now to try to shake things up.

I'm not hungry, so I'm pretty sure I'm eating enough, and I'm paying attention to what I eat, so I don't think I'm eating too much, either.

I've been eating vegan since January 1st and my morning fasting blood sugars are now below 110 consistently, and often lower into the 90's. (It took about two weeks to get there.)

Slow and steady wins the race, right?

I've been playing at being a vegetarian/vegan for about a year. I decided to give it a real try this year to see if it would make a difference in my diabetes and high blood pressure. Being reading & following a lot of the major voices in veganism - McDougall, Esselstyn, Campbell, Engine 2.

A lot of the things they have to say about carbs rings true to me. I haven't been going crazy with carbs, but I haven't been avoiding them. Just working hard to get a lot more plant based and whole foods.

If you are losing inches and gaining muscle, you won't lose pounds at least right away. So don't expect that. Alter your expectations. Staying fit for good, requires building muscle and you are doing exactly that; you are doing it exactly right. Don't want the wrong stuff! After your muscle hits a certain point you'll start losing the pounds again.

Were you an omnivore before Jan 1st, or a vegetarian before Jan 1st? Just curious. Great sugars.

Also watch the carbs, re, pounds. Most people who say they are vegetarians, are really carboterians.

Do you know about the energy exchange portion of The Step Diet? That may help you, too.

Right. Like Lynna said, put the scale away if it's driving you crazy. I take frequent brakes where I hide my scale in the closet. 4 inches is awesome!
