Sugar Levels are Better!!!

Saturday, January 19, 2013

Since the doctor changed my meds to metformin, I didn't see much improvement, other than nausea that lasted for a month. I did lose more weight, but it wasn't exactly comfortable. My sugar levels were still in the 150s to 170s in the morning - they should be under 120 fasting, says my doctor.
Well, last night I went to bed early and woke up at about 2 a.m. I tested, and my sugar was only 111! I was hungry, so I had some oatmeal, but I expected that would bounce my sugars back up. It didn't! When I woke up at 8:30 a.m., it was only 126, and that was probably due to not having taken my meds yet (on workdays, I take them at 6 a.m.).
I'm absolutely thrilled! I already feared I'd have to pump more and more meds into my body, but it seems the plan is working out after all.
Thank you to all of you who encouraged me to hang in there!

It sometimes takes a week or two for metformin to kick in. Now that it has, keep testing so you know effect what various foods have...... emoticon

Yes! Whenever possible, medicine should be the secondary rather than the main treatment (lifestyle changes). You are doing everything right! Go you!
