I saw an infomercial about this cool device called a "NutriBullet". It is like a blender but it is supposed to break things down better to a "macro-nutrient" level. That means your body can absorb the nutrients better.
Just a little background history - I have an iron absorption problem due to IBS and I have a very low iron level. Add to that my hypothyroid issues and the fact that I work night shift, and you have a recipe for absolute exhaustion! I had tried taking iron supplements but that did nothing but upset my IBS and cause nothing but pain and constipation and never raised my iron level. I had other test ruling out anemia and other things but I am amazingly fine except the few issues I mentioned.
So, my wonderful girlfriend got me a NutriBullet for my birthday and I LOVE IT! It came with :
-a base unit
-2 large mixing cups
-2 small mixing cups
-2 emulsion blades
-1 milling blade (for nuts)
- extra stuff like lids and handles for the cups that I don't even use
-recipe book and getting started guide
The way to make a shake is to put 50% greens (spinach, lettuce, etc) and three different kinds of fruit (blueberries, bananas, strawberries) for the other 50% and then add some nuts for the protein (raw, unsalted nuts are best), then add water to the "max" line and screw on the blade/lid, invert and blend.
There are so many recipes! I have my own favorites now. I try to always use spinach (since it has the highest iron level), 3-4 frozen strawberries, 1cup of frozen blueberries, half of a banana (frozen), 2tsp flax seed oil (omega3), 1pk instant oatmeal, tsp cinnamon, 1scoop of vanilla protein powder, a few dates with pits removed and water. YUM! I have one of these everyday and it has more than doubled my iron count in 3 months. I feel more energetic and my mother is even trying to drink one shake a day. I think she is doing and feeling better because of it. It is amazing how good you feel when your body is getting the nutrition it needs.
Here is a few more pictures of the NutriBullet cup and my shake being made.
Anyone else have one of these? I have heard that a vitamix is similar. I love how easy this is to clean. Let me know what you think and if there are any questions you may have that I can answer. The book that comes with it has different sections for different parts of the body - so if you are having digestive issues, you can flip to that section and it will give you recipes to make for improving that part of your body.
