A friend unveils the mask

Do you have any idea what it is like to have to try and get X,Y,and Z accomplished while saving the world without a computer to do the menial tasks for you?!!!

I have spent this entire week trying to manage the paper method of watching the influx of volunteers and visitors at our school (not to mention the late and absent students) all the while accomplishing the multitude of "to do now," tasks and the emergencies that pop up every few minutes such as injuries incurred while trying to stay upright upon the icy playground. With a smile on my face and cheery tones to my voice.

Does anyone recognize the futility of the rules created by the powers that be?

And on top of that I left my well planned calorie counted lunch at home.

So when my one friend came to visit later in the day when all of the little ones had drifted back to their cozy homelife, I stopped (again) my work to release some of my frustrations with wit and stories of the truly humorous. Eventually, she saw through my acting and asked me how I truly was.

Near tears all day, I truthfully confided. I didn't add that it has been this way all week. It's great to have a friend that can sense the tears threatening to spill out from behind the eyelids.

I have a 4 day weekend. If that could only solve the problems, it would be great, but it will take a greater miracle than 4 days to get that sort of relief. It might take a day to hang out with My grandson. And the realization that I am going to laugh about this when the tears threaten four days from now.

Not many realize what the "office person" at a school does! Kudos to you! I am a teacher... I KNOW how harrowing your job can be... fielding parents, phone calls, paper work. Cry. Let it out. Pick your self up and keep on trucking, but say a little prayer of thanks for a friend who saw through the jokes. it helps the most to 'unload" with another school person. They "get it!"

I'm guessing you didn't see the fine print in your job description that superwoman was part of your responsibilities! Rarely do the people making the decisions have to work in the trenches with those affected by those decisions.

I'm sorry you're having a rough week, I hope next week is better. In the meantime, have a great time with your grandson!
