This and That--1-18-13

Friday, January 18, 2013

Hi everyone, Was down most of the day, except for taking care of sick ones: taking temps, making tea, pushing tonics, heating corn bags, etc. Good thing I had so much cooking done this week 'cuz they've been eating leftovers for 2 days. I want SO badly to build our immune systems and be HEALTHY for more than two weeks!!!!

Sipped 2 cups of Rosemary tea [steeped whole rosemary leaves] today and read that there are MANY health benefits as follows:

Today rosemary tea is recognized for its powerful antioxidant properties and its ability to treat a range of physical discomforts.

Containing powerful antioxidants and many vitamins, rosemary tea is easily made by adding 1 tsp. of the dried leaves to 1 cup of boiled water.

You can also gargle with rosemary tea, as it contains antiseptic properties, or add the tea to your bath water by making a larger batch. This is excellent if you are suffering from poor circulation as it will help to stimulate blood flow or for soothing and calming skin irritations.

Because of its mild analgesic properties a strong tea is excellent for relieving headaches and fever.

Since everyone was resting [watching movies], and I felt so CRUMMY, I decided to organize my photo albums. I went through all of 2009, 2010 and most of 2011 and have made albums on my computer. It's SO nice because now the kids can just go the album and I can play a slideshow for them. I LOVE digital, don't you! So much less clutter!!!I reminisced a lot today--giving thanks for my kids, and realizing that they are growing up WAY TOO FAST!!!!

I also decided to make this new before/hitting goal/and struggling again photo. Here is the proof of my 20# gain. If you can't see it good, go to my page and double click the image on my photos.

Many of you know I've been struggling with my weight, well, my SISTER is my NEW INSPIRATION! And she has kept this weight off for over a year!!!!!! But you know what the IRONIC thing is???? I was the one that inspired her to lose weight! Oh, to get my motivation back!!!!!

And I'll share this picture of my Sammy boy! I cried many tears today, thinking how quickly my baby boy is GROWING up! Here he is @ 5 years old:

One last thing is a quote I read today that blessed me SO MUCH!

“No one can live without delight, and that is why a man deprived of spiritual joy goes over to carnal pleasures.” —St. Thomas Aquinas // “I will greatly rejoice in the LORD; my soul shall exult in my God, for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation” (Isaiah 61:10). quoted in Eternal Perspectives: www.epm.org

Blessings and {{{{huge hugs}}}}

    Susan - hope you are all feeling better soon. I am on the mend after a week of being sick. I was just finding my motivation again when I caught this bug that has kept me from exercising. We will do this together!

    Love the pictures Susan. And as much as you want to lose and will lose the weight, remember there is nothing wrong with a size 8. Just think of what you would tell Mary if she thought she was big at a size 8. Woman you are no longer a size 16/18. You are still rocking your weight loss. Hang in there and you will find the key to get things moving again. All the illness has kept you from walking. Remember in the beginning you walked everyday and far? Once ya'll get well you can do that again. Remember all the yummy balanced things you could eat? You tried the carb thing for a while. You have been through some changes. Praying that God will show you how amazing you are and get you headed back toward your goals. emoticon

    I'm right with you, dear sister! I've had the most peaceful Christmas and winter to date and am so very grateful for being able to enjoy peace with the joy I already feel when I am in the presence of the Lord. I'm at peace -- mixed with the turmoil of repentant sin for the gluttony I've indulged too heavily in -- and am happy to begin a new challenge with some of my Christian friends -- one of about five challenges I'm in this winter -- where the numbers should return to a much healthy BMI in the next couple months. I lost this weight for a body that I see as a temple of the Holy Spirit -- one that I have the responsibility to be a good steward over. It's probably the only reason I was successful in keeping it at a healthy BMI for over 18 months. The abuse I've recently given into simply cannot be tolerated further. I'm armed with the righteousness of God and a variety of go-to whole foods that I must go to when that feeling of hunger (and occasional emotional eating) sets in once my basic Spark nutritional levels (calories, protein, carbs, fat, fiber, calcium, and sodium) have been met. My nutritional tracker is my second biggest friend to my Lord and Savior. I pray that my abiding spirit, faith, and trust in God will allow me to return to feeding this temple appropriately. I'm in a great deal of prayer these days in preparation of making the lifestyle change of getting back to a much higher percentage of non-processed, whole foods. We can do this, girlfriend! I have every confidence in you because I know where you, too, get your strength. Feed your temple well, dear friend!

    Your Sis looks great Susan but so do you. I have gained weight back as well but like you I have made up my mind to get it back off and I am not looking back only forward.

We will do this.
