Cold Day for a Walk
Friday, January 18, 2013
Just a quick check-in as I've got tons of work to do. I'm currently 5 days behind my personal deadline for a chapter, leaving myself with only 2 days to do an entire re-write for another chapter in order to meet a personal deadline. I'm not sure it's possible; it's definitely not possible if I don't focus solely on writing instead of everything else.
While I haven't gotten my 25min of exercise in every day, I've gotten at least some kind of fitness in every day this week (so far). A couple of days I got my dad and went for a walk down one of the paved trails that the city ploughs in the winter. It's almost 3.2km and takes us about 36min. Nothing too intense, but great for a low-impact social activity. Today we went even though it was -19C! On the off-days I've done some basic strength training at home or cardio walking DVD workouts.
I wanted to get Mom some heavier dumbbells since she has maybe .5lbs and 2lbs, which are waaaaaay too light for me seeing as I use 5lbs for my shoulders and 10lbs for everything else at home. I thought she'd be interested, but according to her, 2lbs is good enough even though I feel like her upper body's stronger than mine. I really miss doing bicep curls, kickbacks & other dumbbell ST.
My eating's been a bit off the rails though as no one else seems to be eating Mom's homemade oatmeal raisin cookies (which are awesome) and last night she hosted a potluck/meeting for her book club at the house. It was fun to try some of all of the dishes, but I ended up way over due to how I ate earlier in the day. While I care about my health and goals, I don't ever want to reach a point in my relationship with food when I can't enjoy a good potluck without feeling guilty.
Hope everyone's doing great! :)
