Friday, cold Friday.

Friday, January 18, 2013

It is very cold, very windy, snowing occasionally, but such a bitter wind that everybody I have come into contact with is chilled to the bone,,even big, husky guys!! I think our furnace is going to spike up to 60 degrees here!!

On that note, I will respond to yesterdays comments..
The quinoa(keen-wa) I bought is from the health food store, came from bulk , is white, had no directions on teh clear plastic tub,so I have no idea how to cook it.. realized that after I went to bed last night.. Like rice??,, How much water?? Does it double like rice or triple??
As far as the kale, I bought it once, raw, just tossed it in some crock pot vegetable beef soup i was making.. halfway through.. Dd had added some, but not enough to actually SEE with the naked eye. so I added a lot more..It tastes exactly like spinach,,, I imagine it is from the same family(Or is a kissin' cuzzin')..

Dd and I made the rounds today at the credit union, dad's house to pick up mail, was going to go through the car wash at the dealership, but they had the garage car wash door down, indicating that it is either too cold and doors and door locks would freeze shut, or it is in need of repair,, I am guessing the latter,, my car thermometer read ICE, then shot up to 20 degrees for an hour.. Still no sunlight..
More boxing things up tomorrow and going to dad's house to wash and dry stuffed animals, take my wedding dress back there..
Sunday is my BD and I plan on nothing except DD taking me to dinner.. and some exercise of course...
it will be the 39th anniversary of my 21st birthday!!! I love anniversaries!!

    Have a wonderful birthday celebration.
Quinoa is one of my favorite grains. One wonderful thing to do with it is to cook it a little on the dry side and use it for a salad or pilaf.

I get boxed from the store so it is already rinsed off. You might want to look online for more information. Google search is our friend!

Also yes, it is like rice, double the liquid and it multiplies as it sucks in the juice.
keep an eye on it so liquid doesn't run dry.
The little seeds kind of pop open so you can tell when it is done.
If underdone will be a little crunchy.
