A Bug You Want to Bite

Friday, January 18, 2013

Happy Friday Everyone!

I am in the best mood this morning! My hubby has been away on a work related trip and is coming home today, I can't wait to see him!

I have been wondering some time now if I am intolerant to some foods that we consume on a daily basis, so I decided to try cutting them out and see how I react to them as I add them back into my diet. I already know I have an issue with dairy and eggs so I am going to have to watch how much of them I eat. I have horrible stomach aches after eating them. I won't be to descriptive on that, lol.

emoticon Anyway, I have been starting my day off with a protein shake and surprisingly enough they are quite tasty. The only problem is finding a protein powder without whey or soy. I did try some with a whey but I'm not suppose to have any dairy, so I'm going to have to figure that one out.

emoticon I have to confess something as well. Back when I started running I was bitten by the bug. Always trying to increase my distance and speed I LOVED IT! But after running my 1st couple 5ks I lost my desire to increase these things. No drive just doing my normal 1/2 hour run, blah, blah, blah. That's how it felt anyway.

Recently a friend of mine invited me to join her team for Cincinnati's Mini Heart Run and apparently you can choose from several different runs from a 5k up to a full marathon. In the beginning I said I'd do the 10k since that is next on "my list" but then was encouraged by a few to do the 15k. So I have decided to train for that. Today during and especially after my run I felt that bug bite me again! I was so excited I walk/ran 6.89 miles in 80 minutes!!!! WHAT! I was only shooting for 6 1/2 but hey I'll take it!!! I think the funniest part was how upset I was with myself afterwards for not finishing out the 0.11 miles to get my full 7, lol. Yes, I'm a nerd...ha ha.

But the best part was my strong urge to get further the next time. Asking myself, how much more I can run, and realizing I could have done more today. I was so excited I can't even explain to you how happy it made me. This is definitely a bug I've been waiting to bite me again, lol.

So that's been my day and it's just beginning! I hope everyone has a very wonderful and blessed weekend!

emoticon to you all!

Is it just me, or do you find it harder to run outside than on the treadmill?
