Letter to Myself

Friday, January 18, 2013

Dear Lorie:

It has been a long journey in life and a bunch of uphill battles. Between the leg problems, surgeries, physical therapy, stress of your parents health failing very rapidly and unusual stressful brides you still wake up every morning and keep going.

I was so proud of you in 2011 when you lost 65 pounds and were doing so great and then you let yourself slip back into bad habits after the knee injury and the rotten bride who vowed to ruin your business. Well, your business is still here and doing ok, the knee is another story but you are working on making that better.

You have the willpower and the know how to do this again. Remember how proud you were of yourself for losing a record amount of weight at the Weight Loss Clinic, they loved your humor, stories and your willingness to help others who were struggling. The one thing that I do not understand about you, is why you can give to others, help others, guide others and lend an ear, but why o why do you not do those things for yourself. Why do you always put yourself last? Why do you not think that you are worth the effort it takes to get and remain healthy?

Remember in 2011 when you lost the weight, you had so much more energy, but I do remember that you still had lots of leg pain, but you know that is life, for you with your leg. You need to get on the stick and if nothing else.....just get healthy. Instead of writing this letter, I would love to write the following letter.

Dear Lorie:

It has been a long journey, but you have arrived!!! Congrats on making changes in your life that have led you to the healthy person that you are today. I am so proud of you, so proud that you made the changes that needed to be made and you will not lead a life of High Blood Pressure, Type 2 Diabetes, Stroke and multiple Heart conditions, like the rest of your family.

Life will never be perfect, that is why they call it LIFE...stuff happens, but now you have learned from your past mistakes and you are utilizing the tools that Spark has given you to overcome those hurdles, so that you do not get derailed on your plan. You have learned, that tomorrow is always a new day and they never stop coming. You have learned to "not give up" and keep pushing on.

Between you and me, your Sunny Gals have always been there for you and are so very supportive along with a couple of very special Spark Friends (LOVES2EXERCISE and FANTASTIC731) that I am not sure where I would be without these very special people. I am sure that without the help of Spark and my Spark Friends, I would have lost the leg by now and would be so much heavier.

Thank you for the new lease on life,

Thank you for reading my blog to myself.
