20 minutes and
Okay my body is aching, sore and feeling sad (not me but my body). Oh my I ache all over. I know my legs are sore because of my workout yesterday, but why is the rest of body screaming? Yesterday I really changed my workout on the 2 machines i use at the gym. Typically I do the treadmill: warm-up, increase speed every 5 minutes by 2s and include incline increments last 15 minutes. Yesterday: warm-up, increased speed every 4 and started increments of inclining at 10 minutes into workout all the way to 30. I did not decrease the speed right away as I inclined. I challenge myself to walk that fast pace as long as I could on the inclines. Whew I made it... Then I pressed over to the ellipitcal where I typically keep it at 5-6 stride and 1-3 resistance for the entire span. Well the challenge yesterday I got up to an 8 stride and 8 resistance. the last 10 minutes I lowered the stride to 6 and kept the resistance at 8-10. Oh was I finally feeling this machine. I truly enjoyed the workout but I couldn't stay at it longer than 20 minutes. My back was feeling it by then as well.
My focus now is to increase intensity/resistance and not focus so much on duration. I think this will challenge my muscles and increase my heart rate as it's forcing me to push ahead. I noticed that my heart rate is not as high as it once was which I guess means I've gotten in better shape and it's time for a challenge. I have yet to tackle the other machines I wanted to try. I also put aside strength training as with the Shred Rev plan he recommends you hold off on strength training. However, I think I need that since I've been on this journey a moment. I think that could be why I gained inches as well (thanks Nikki). So I'll be picking that up again.
It is my plan right now, this minute to workout everyday until my next weigh-in. I hope to get in some double workouts as well. Hope everyone has a great, long weekend and lets keep the Spark alive.
