Well here were are 18 days into the new year. I started the year weighing 282lbs. I had decided prior to the year that the 17 day diet was the way for me and I made a commitment to beat obesity in 2013. To no longer be obese I need to weigh 202lbs.
I have followed the diet food rules. This has been fairly easy. The only real issues I have found is what I have told my husband a few times "I am hungry but at this point I am so bored with food, I don't really want anything, because I don't feel like putting in the effort to make something super yummy." I said this again last night. I find myself standing in front of the fridge going "Nah don't want that, nah don't want that... nah.. nah..." then I just go sit down and wait. Last night I ended up with chicken breast and coleslaw (I made). The mornings have defaulted in to boiled eggs and one other allowed food. Yesterday it was 2 boiled eggs with 75% of the yoke removed and... I can't even remember... must have been boring. Its not the diets fault that I am bored with food. There are tons of yummy yummy things I could make and eat, I just don't feel like; lazy. Today was the same boiled eggs with about 12 Special K chips. I can have potatoes and brown rice and that is the first 2 ingredients in them. I have been DYING to eat some sort of chip product. Looks like Special K Chips and Beanitos and Plentifuls (lentil chips that taste and feel just like funyuns) will probably end up being my "additions" of my phase 2 foods. I am a crunchy food addict and these items are soooo welcome back into my diet. I don't really see much on the list I really want to have and the portions are so small anyway. So bring on the chip like products. YAYAYAYA! I feel so lucky to l live in Austin, the land of many health food options and home of Whole Foods :o) The healthy alternative selection for many foods is amazing and you can find it all here. Lucky ducky me!
So anywho... enough about how I plan on stuffing my face (well 2 servings is hardly stuffing) with chip alternatives.
Phase 1 went well. I allowed one food not on the diet... Mexican Cheesecake. Hear me out....
My husbands birthday was this week and I made him from scratch Mexican cheesecake. It was a brand new recipe of an item I have never had, so I had a slice. If it was store bought cheese cake I would have let it pass; I already know what that tastes like. I didn't have a giant piece and I didn't have seconds. I made two cheesecakes and that one slice was enough. I figure 95% is a pretty good diet percentage.
And the drumroll please for the weightloss total for Phase 1.....
I stood on the scale and then weighed again. 270 from 282 in just 17 days. I said out loud "Oh my gosh, you got to be kidding me!"
It was a nice reward.
Now on to Phase 2... me and my alternachips
