Just a Little Thing...

Over the past few years, I have graduated from mindlessly eating whatever was available to planning meals, avoiding temptation, and exercising restraint when it comes to food. Anyway, Thursday afternoon, we ate lunch at Panera Bread. I knew what I planned to eat in advance, and consciously rejected the up-sell to a $.99 desert. While we were eating, a hostess came by with a tray of red velvet tarts and offered one as a free sample. I had my first occurrence of mindless "not eating" when I said" No thank you" without even considering it. Normally, now, I would have rejected it after weighing its deliciousness against the consequence of eating something that probably would not be good for me. Then I would have given myself a pat on the back for making the right decision.

By the way, what I did eat, a Power Mediterranean Chicken Salad from the "Hidden Menu" was excellent.

All-natural, Antibiotic-free chicken, baby spinach, romaine, tomatoes, apple-wood smoked bacon, diced eggs, fresh squeezed lemon juice, and extra virgin olive oil. -with an apple to take home.

    Love those NSVs with declining free food. I've noticed this a couple of times, though not as often as I hope to have them in the future.
