Might be a Good incentive to walk more often!!

Thursday, January 17, 2013

Well, I am deaf and don't walk as I should since I cannot hear cars or such when walking. I went to the shelter here in town to see about getting a dog to train as a hearing assistance dog. Well - I found a very sweet guy there. His name is Deacon. He is listed as a pit bull, but we found he is actually an American Bulldog.

For me, the eyes just say it all.

I get to go tomorrow and we will take our current dog Buddy to see if they get along. If they do, then Deacon is mine. Oh, one of the best parts is, during the month of January at this shelter, all dogs over 50 pounds are - - - - - - -FREE!!!

With having Deacon here, I will get out an walk more. I will be the one responsible for him and a friend will work with me in training him to be a hearing assistance dog.

Here's a picture of Buddy.

I can just see them being friends. Sammy the cat will wonder what's going on and probably hide for a few days.

An American Bulldog! Wow! He's a beauty, too! They aren't super common, either. Your other dog can't be trained? Just wondering. They are both so sweet looking. ( I lovelovelove dogs). So happy you went to the shelter, to. So many wonderful dogs at shelters.

Thanks everyone. Here's an update. We did get Deacon. He and Buddy have had a very rough start. Buddy can't seem to get over his jealousy. We will continue working, but we also have 2 weeks to see if they get along better. If not, we have the option of returning Deacon, but I don't think we will. I will give it a few days first.
