Finally walked the dogs

Thursday, January 17, 2013

I had a doctor's appointment today and when we were leaving, the dogs got out. We got them back in, but I was running late. I had to run up two flights of stairs and got there with 3 minutes to spare. I know the dogs are frustrated that I haven't been walking them since I've been sick. I think I am finally getting better. The cold weather we have been having has finally broke and its a breezy 68F. I'm not coughing up green phlegm today, so the antibiotics are finally kicking in. Okay, back to life, back to the routine. I'm getting out of bed and doing it.

By the end of the walk, I was struggling to breath like I was when I ran up the stairs. I think this is what I was like 7 years ago when I first started walking my dog. Its frustrating how I can lose 7 years of progress by skipping a week of walking. Okay, I should cut myself some slack. I'm stuffy and not getting as much oxygen as normal do. I am sure once I start walking everyday again, I will recover the loss quickly.

Just give your body time to heal after this stuff that you had and you will be surprised that you will be able to more.

Don't despair, Michelle! You are feeling weak because you're still sick. Yes, a week of not moving will make you feel like you've lost ground -- but not much. Give yourself a break -- you don't get sick often, and the flu takes a lot out of you. You've been a great owner to your dogs. They're lucky to have someone who walks them everyday and for good distances. And I'm sure they know you're sick:)

I hope you're feeling back to normal soon. Hugs,

Sounds brutal. I'm sure the dogs will appreciate when you are back to 100%.

Sounds like you got your exercise in BEFORE you walked the dog!!! And you know you haven't lost all the progress you made, it just feels like it. You are not 100%, but you will be soon. Where do you live that it is that warm btw? I live in AZ and we hit 61o. Weird year isn't it? No wonder the flu has hit so many people so hard. Keep recovering!!!
