Drink your water

Thursday, January 17, 2013

I took custody of an 11 year old. I knew she had a bad diet at the home she left. I didn't think about that she only had Dr Pepper in her house, never drank water at home and seldom outside of the house.

I have always drank a lot of water and never realized the results of not drinking water. Beka collapsed at school. I took her to the Dr. He said she was dehydrated and ran a lot test to see how much damage had been done.

An 11 year old was tested for hormone imbalance, kidney problems, liver problems, diabetes, thyroid problems, heart problems, even cancer. Beka had chest xrays and an EKG. A day and half of running from clinic to clinic in 3 different cities.

The Dr said she has her mind seams sharp, but if left a little longer that could change.

An 11 year old, a 80 pound little girl is on a forced 60 oz of water a day. A little girl that should be having fun running and riding her bike, can't exercise. A little girl that wants to enjoy friends has grandparents that are always interrupting to hand her another glass of water. All because she didn't get the water she needed.

Hope she recovers from this soon and will form a new habit of drinking lots of water. It is a good reminder for all of us to keep hydrated. After all over half of our body weight is water.

Glad you caught it early while it can be corrected.
