I've always bragged about how I make it a point to sleep for at least 8 hours every night. I started tracking my sleep using my fit bit last week and so far I am averaging slightly less than 6 hours per night. I was even more shocked to discover that there was a night when I woke up FOUR times to go to the bathroom!

Well, at least I don't wake up feeling tired so maybe this is just the right amount of sleep for me... I don't know.

That is interesting about the fitbit! I don't think I have had a night of straight through sleep in years! I can stay in bed for 6-9 hours, but always have to get up and make bathroom trips off and on. I need to stop drinking so much before bed! Thanks for stopping by my Mountain blog tonight! Have a great day down there in Africa! emoticon

Wow, thats really cool that the fitbit can track that. I GOTTA get one of those. About your sleep, maybe you could inch it up just a little at a time. so you hardly notice. I firmly believe our bodies adjust and get used to whatever we do to them---like if you never eat before supper, then you don't really get hungry until suppertime. Your body has probably just learned to "make do" with the amount of sleep you get....

Could be that you only need 5 to 6 hours of sleep at a time. Do you wake up tired though? Or do you feel well rested? Do you nap at all? I have too otherwise I get very run down.

Thanks for your comments on my last blog, and good luck with all of your goals.

Wow. I didn't realize the Fitbit was that good at measuring sleep! My advice would be... NAPS! lol

You can't fool the fitbit! I thought I was getting 7 hours per night but was shocked to see how many times I wake up during the night. Started wearing earplugs due to the various noises in my household and voila, I am sleeping sounder. I've also been experimenting with nighttime snacks/fluids to decrease the bathroom trips! LOL That fitbit is so helpful.

    Have a great day! emoticon

I wake up after about six hours. I was telling another blogger I only wish I could sleep long hours, as I did when I was a younger man. But back then, I thought to myself, "Why do I need so much sleep?" Glenn
