Today my mom is 63 and she is far away (Mission TX)! I am happy that she is under warmer weather conditions that we have here (Ontario, Canada), following her heart to create an happier her... but I have to admit - I miss her.
Yeah, I am 40 and I miss my mommy!
Here she is enjoying the sun and a good book - she will be heading back to Saint-Augustine (FL) for March and I might join her for a week.
**** On another note - I signed up for the 21 Day Relationship Challenge with "the Happiness Project" website*... and yesterday (day 2) was about giving gold stars!
So here is my gold
Award Ceremony - for girls only! (in random order) - hummm I could give gold stars to my hubby but sometimes it is great to make sure that love ones are always close to your heart despite the distance!
- To my grandma Marie - also nicknamed Souris (French for Mouse). I am sure she is taking good care of my sister Eve in heaven (
). She taught me patience and simplicity. My grandma was a proud housewife and family was the center of her existence. As part of her legacy, I kept a few of her cooking books, from the 1940! Not always what we would label healthy but the comments are priceless!
That inspired me to give to my daughters their own cooking book - so we could share the joy of cooking and eating well!
I bought them (a copy each) :
: To my daughter Emma (17) - for becoming a young lady! After returning to her dad's house, she prepared herself a breakfast inspired from the cookbook and she sent me a picture of it! Yummy ...
Her parfait -
- and I reply with this one! :
I am proud -knowing that spending time in the kitchen together taught her some of my secrets, some learned watching the food chanel on TV, reading articles on Spark & Sparkrecipe and some that I stole from my mom and her mega cookbook! (I have to admit, from my step father too - ok -I am cheating here - Ken, you can have a star too!
I have to say, I miss some of my favorite comfort food - there are some recipes that only few can do the perfect way - like meatloaf!
: My daughter Maggie - because she is on the right path! She looks better than ever (lost a few pounds without a DIET! Just eating the right stuff, having some healthy alternative for deserts and being active!)
If I want to spend time with her and get her to talk to me, I just have to ask her to help me roll fresh spring roll for a special dinner. She is very proud of putting together dishes that look so complicated to do!
: To my sister Meliza
(picture taken when we celebrated our BD - Mom - I promise I will have a cake for you next time we are together!!!)
... continued... (and
to her family)!!! For driving more than 8 hours (one way) to come and visit us so we could spend Christmas together.
I was VERY happy to be with them - even just for the fact of spending time together!
And guess what? We turned breakfast into a festive table and enjoyed good stuff
- too much (pretty much every meal was festive!!!) but that is why you start fresh in January!
Did I mentioned my Mom? ho yeah... what can I say. She is a good listener. I like calling her and having a chat - oh no... wait - we do that on skype now and the line is not so good... did I say I miss her!!!! Not because she is far - I have been away for years because of my job.... it just seem like it was easier to get in touch and it felt closer - perhaps it is just because I miss my top girls! Ok mom, you deserve a
Finally, to my precious
Eve, for smiling with us when we are smiling, sending energy and loving messages in form of an unexpected memory of our bound - sisterhood... I missed you then - when you were far away exploring the world and going after your passions; I miss you now - as you are my/our angel. I send you peace.
It is getting late - I would not give myself a
for the Positive attitude and Motivation Challenge of the day - get some sleep! I wanted to catch up - but you can't catch up at everything at once. So.
for me for catching up with Sparks and keeping a positive blog of happy times...
